Hello! Well, I first started shipping Wonkyu after I saw this video. At around 0:36, Ryeowook closes his eyes to shoot a firecracker thing (orz) and it shoots in Kyuhyun’s direction and he falls over and QUICKER THAN LIGHTNING Siwon is there kneeling in front of him, protecting him and helping him breathe after the shock of it ;;

(On a side note, I do suggest watching that whole video because it is absolutely precious. From Mimi’s “happy bursday” to Hae demanding presents in Japanese and so on.. though have your volume turned down for when the video starts because for some reason, this uploader decided to put a super loud Super Girl cut at the beginning and it scared me right out of my skin!)

And okay, this video was actually one of the first SJM related videos I had ever seen outside the Super Girl MV so I knew nothing about them really and at the time my only Kyuhyun related ship was Kyuhae. 

Anyway, I’m really drawn to the whole protection vs. vulnerability dynamic and that is Wonkyu in a nutshell. For example, in the 2007 EasyMag interview, after Kyuhyun made his comeback in the group after his accident, Super Junior were posed the question of which member they’d like to become and why. Most answered with their usual answers, Siwon because he’s good looking or Heechul because he’s so cool, but this was Siwon’s answer:

“The member that I want to become the most is Kyuhyun, because I really want to bear the pain for him.”

That hit me like a thousand bricks and grew eternally grateful toward Siwon for this answer.. ;_; which brings me to my next point. Kyuhyun has never been one to seek out or even want attention. He takes the attention he receives and sometimes he even rejects it. But Siwon has always been someone who always gave Kyuhyun attention maybe when he didn’t want it, but when he seemed to need it. The Christmas 2010 Guangzhou SS3 concert is an example of this. And speaking of SS3, since Kyuhyun always manages to find some way to injure himself, Siwon is always there. And since we’re back on the subject of him protecting Kyuhyun, on the SJM show when it was Henry’s turn to spank Kyuhyun, Siwon ran forward immediately to hold his hands to help him brace himself for the strike. And when Henry spanked him WAY HARDER than he should have, Siwon held his head and stroked his back.

Which reminds me that also during Perfection era, in what little time Siwon was there for the promotions, he always made sure Kyuhyun was fed, and was even sleazy enough to talk about how he listens to Kyuhyun’s voice before he goes to sleep and how ~money isn’t an issue~

WHICH BRINGS ME TO MY NEXT POINT. When Siwon tweeted about Kyuhyun’s rendition of Seven Years of Love:

HE JUST LOVES KYUHYUN AND HIS VOICE SO MUCH.

And ah ah ah when Kyuhyun revealed this on Strong Heart:

Kyuhyun: Siwon really loves me.. He loves touching me and always asks me to kiss him and hug him. One day, he said seriously, “Kyuhyun-ah, you know hyung loves you, right?”  and then he asked, “In what ranking do you love me?”  so I said “Um you’re in my top three?” and he keeps asking me why not definitely first??

AND I CAN’T FIND IT BUT THEN AFTER THIS SIWON TWEETED KYUHYUN ASKING IF HE WAS FIRST YET. AHHHHH. But it happened. 

I think the accident that occurred April 2007 was the catalyst in their current relationship.. so I suppose good can come from tragedy. I see them as Siwon genuinely wanting nothing more than Kyuhyun’s safety and happiness and Kyuhyun showing his gratitude in subtle ways that tend to just make Siwon’s day. 

And ah I almost forgot, when Super Junior were on KTR after their Sorry Sorry comeback stage and they were out of chairs so of course the natural thing for Kyuhyun to do was to sit on Siwon’s lap.
