today I have seen a robber fly, cuckoo wasp, couple damselflies (maybe just one but I doubt it), a dragonfly, and some other cool beasts what a time to be alive

I'm doing my baby steps in science by making a research on a local Polistes population and my family often makes it the butt of the joke because they're not educated about insects and think that studying bugs is some unserious laughable thing. I'm not mad at them, they just don't understand and it's okay. But my grandma is so different. She feared wasps her whole life, but started so geniunely worrying about them once I said I study them and they're important to me. When any type of harsh weather happends, she calls me and asks how are my wasps and did they survive. She asks what they eat, what materials use for the nest. She was so upset when two of my nests were half destroyed by a bird and was so happy to hear that in both cases adult wasps have survived and didn't give up. I visited her a week ago and when I was leaving she was like "Have a good field work. Oh, and I hope your wasps stay healthy and strong" :")

Making a wasp photo study and I can't get over how freaking Beautiful bug's are, the way their plates lock in together, the geometry of it, the fine-tuned propositions, so delicate yet sturdy. aahhh

When I kept wasps on my balcony, their relaxed buzzing melted all my stress away, and their polite cleaning service was very welcome! If you didn't know, wasps barely leave any leftovers behind of the food if you give them enough time. They also keep pests in check. I loved it when they immediately flew to my shirt in the morning when I opened the window. I could let them sit on my head, on my clothes and even on my nose without any worry in the world. You could never make me hate them.
