"No really, crying is really good for emotional regulation. Gotta, like, regulate." He says while never letting himself cry anything out ever. "I was getting to it." He insists, though he just assumed the met uneventfully though school, which may be kinda wild of him to just assume all the girls know each other in some natural cosmic way, as if they had the same brain... "So how did you lovebirds meet." He teases, turned almost all the way around to look between them.
Her brain short circuits for half a moment, before she’s snapped back to the question at hand. For a moment she’s confused, her brows furrowing in said confusion before a light sparks in her eyes. “That’s right! We were mutuals before we even came here. I think we might have even ended up at the same party once?”
“Kinda like the boys. Hey, maybe we should start a podcast Kennedy teases, some of the tension in the car washing away.
Somehow it was unsurprising to hear Tara and Kennedy knew each other. He got the vibe that the two of them were savvy with social media, it made sense their circles would overlap with each other. And despite the subtle dig, it kinda was similar to how Ted and him met. But he'd be damned if he agreed with the broad out loud, so just kept that thought to himself. "Of course you were at the same party..."
And just like that, just as quickly as things settled- Schlatt stirs them up again. Kennedy’s lips had just parted to throw back a snarky retort when instead she hears Tara’s voice.
“Oh don’t do that! Every single campus party there’s been, I’ve found you at! You love a good party, whether you want to admit it or not.” And that’s enough to put a satisfied smile on Kennedy’s face.
Ted feel the tention in his muscles increase and he exhales slolwy trying to let the moment play out, trying to keep his knee from jerking. He didn't want to think it was the same as being at the same party, but that wasn't because it wasn't true, necessarily! He just kinda sounded... dull? He face brightens when Tara pushes back at Schlatt, turning to the big guy with his broad smile. "Oh Schlatt can really turn up when he wants to."
Tara grins as she watches Ted joining in on the poking fun of Schlatt. It feels like a mini victory that somehow the tension was dissected again. “And he loves body shots. Don’t ya Schlatt?” Tara asks, smirking as she settles back into her seat.
Oh god, and of course the tables have somehow turned on him with this one. “Oh my god..” he groaned to himself. “……Yes, I like to party.” He admitted quietly, eyes still on the road and not bothering to look at any of them.
Kennedy’s eyes lit up, sarcasm dancing on her tongue already. She opens her lips to speak, but Tara’s quicker than her.
“He loooves to drink- don’t you Schlatt?”
Instead of her sarcastic remark, Kennedy settles in her seat, watching Tara and Schlatt and trying to decide if she could ever actually see them as a couple. It was obvious what Ted was doing here, there was no way those two would ever actually go together. They were so… different.
“Remember New Years?” Tara’s eyes are twinkling as she looks between the boys, and suddenly Kennedy is sitting up a little straighter.
“What happened on New Years?”
Ted felt like he needed a research team to navigate this conversation now. Or a defensive team! Or even worse, he was expected to be the defensive team, for the the diver.
His eyes roll back to Schlatt as both the girls go in on this proof Schlatt can have fun bit. "New Years was a long time ago, wanna catch us up?" He says not thinking much of it, just sitting forward in his seat now to watch the road.
“Oh, surely you remember Ted. They were your lips after all.” Tara leans back, biting her nail with what could only be described as an evil grin. “Don’t tell me the kiss was that forgettable?”
Meanwhile, Kennedy’s head it whipping back and forth between the two, trying to piece together what was being said. “Sorry what?” is all she can manage out.
Schlatt wasn't exactly sure where Tara was going with this topic of conversation either at first. After all there was a LOT that happened at New Years, but Ted was right, it happened so long ago that she could've been talking about anything at this point. But just as Schlatt was about to write it off, the word "lips" seemed to click everything into his mind. Inadvertently, his face seemed to scrunch up. "Oh dear lord, you wanna talk about this right now?!"
“Talk about what?!?” Kennedy is literally on the edge of her seat, nails digging into the seat anxiously as she awaits whatever the hell theyre talking about. She’s frustrated that everyone here seems to know something she doesn’t. She looks to Tara, expectantly but the other girl just seems to sit back with a satisfied grin on her face. So, Kennedy turn to Ted.
