Sally and Poseidon are having a very nice date on the beach of Montauk when what they at first think is a comet comes hurtling down. Investigating reveals a massive crater and two tiny, identical winged children in the middle of it, crying and clutching each other as their physical forms swiftly and instinctively contract from their true angelic forms to ones that humans will not go insane upon witnessing.
Poseidon recognizes them immediately, whispers of the lost angels have been spread throughout the pantheons for millennia: Samael and Michael, cast out of Heaven, thrown through a rip in time and space by their own Mother for being an aberration, one essence that had been split into two physical forms to prevent it’s own destruction from the amount of power that it possessed—the inspiration for Zeus when he split Prometheus’s version of humanity into two halves.
(the Mother has since been bound to Hell as its ruler, unable to leave permanently, She would not be a threat to them now, and Poseidon knows that the Father has been seeking any sign of the twins for longer than Poseidon has lived)
The infant angels are small, vulnerable, and Poseidon knows that the other gods of his pantheon, along with many of the other pantheons (especially the Egyptian pantheon) would see them as threats and treat them accordingly. Zeus would want them destroyed or, if he’s in a gentler mood, to take and use them as weapons against their own kind.
The thought of handing them over to his younger brother and washing his hands of it is tempting, but Poseidon finds he cannot stomach it as he watches Sally Jackson go and try to offer comfort to the angels.
Poseidon had been so close to breaking the oath and giving her a child, regardless of the horrible fate that would befall a child of a broken path, and the damning prophecy hanging over them all. And as he watches the three together a plan starts to form in the Greek god’s mind.
He isn’t sure if it will work, if angels can be bound to Prophecy like demigods, but he can’t do anything but try to protect any of his future children from such a fate…if he has to sacrifice a pair of unwanted, abandoned children to ensure that? Then so be it. And these two, these split-souled twins have ever so conveniently fallen into Poseidon’s hands.
He isn’t sure if a blessing on them to hide their true nature will work, but Poseidon tries anyway. Sally, after Poseidon convinces her to claim the children as their own (with a generous application of the Mist), calls the twins Perseus (Michael) and Alexandros (Samael).
THIS DEFINITELY COUNTS AS KIDNAPPING! There's just a few added steps to give plausible deniability to Sally, poor woman likely has no idea they have a semi decent parent out there looking for them given that Poseidon likely neglected to inform her that only the mother rejected/abandoned them.
By the time God learns of where they are Poseidon is almost certainly attached and the twins have probably imprinted on Sally and the demigods.
That doesn't mean that God can't see exactly what Poseidon was trying to pull. Tying his babies to a prophecy that he thought predicted their death?!
I can 100% see the Host being jealous of how much the twins love their demigod flock/siblings.
