“Wow, Neo, you’re so creative. I bet you think that you’re the first person to make a joke about kennels and dogs and oh man you are so funny!” he fake laughed, glaring at her with a disgruntled hatred in his eyes. He simply huffed, looking away. She thought she was perfection; she thought that she was amazing, and great, and he fucking hated her. Mercury could think of no greater thing than to break her into pieces, and not because of her little illusion trick. “I’m going to sit here, and I’m going to take…” he reached into his jacket, pulling out his specialized lighter and his pack of cigarettes. “… a smoke break. I’m going to stay here for maybe 15 minutes, and then I’ll leave. You can have your seat back when I’m gone.” he spoke steadily, with quite a lack of amusement in his voice, like he was tired of all this bullshit. “Deal? Deal, ok, good talk. Now give me fifteen fucking minutes you little gnome.”

Wasn’t the first one to use the dog analogy, I was just picking up on your pathetic sense of rehashed humor. The quip remained within her own mind, deciding to stay quiet and not prolong the idiotic sense of “he stab, she stab”. She watched his movements however, seeing as to what Mercury was going to waste his time on her perch.

And then he pulled out the lighter and cigarettes.

No. She was quick to deny his hobby, deny his intentions, and deny his entire being with that one simple word. With quick action and no hesitation, the parasol’s handle smacked into Mercury’s hand, the lethal smokes leaving his hand and flying onto the floor. Her look was stern, the childish smile long gone as she spoke to him with her mind.

You’re not allowed to smoke here. Find someplace else. It didn’t take much effort to cloak her concern or selfishness with a shroud of “I don’t give a damn about you so I’ll get in your way” attitude. The action seemed frivolous and annoying, just to get on Black’s case, but in all honestly Neo wouldn’t allow the stench of anyone’s smoke other than Roman’s flood this room.

Nora simply kept talking, not to anyone in particular, just to the passing people, or to the birds scrambling about on the sidewalk in a quest for crumbs. Being so short, Nora could only sit on the bench, letting her feet dangle a few inches above the ground. She didn’t mind any, not when she had ice cream to keep her attention. A keen eye could see that while Nora was small, she had a powerful frame. Beneath her soft skin lay thick and powerful muscles, her thighs seemingly able to crush watermelons and skulls with comparable ease. Giggling, she seemed to radiate energy, her skin crackling with static electricity as she continued to lick away at her yummy treat. Then she heard something from over her shoulder, and she whipped her head around to exclaim her surprise at the stranger’s comment. But… nobody was there. “Um…” she started, brow furrowed but a smile still on her face, as if she was pleasantly surprised and confused. “Whoever said that, thank you!” she chirped, a flowery giggle trickling out from her lips as she returned to her ice cream.

Oh, that was precious. Neo could see from the distance her small quirks and quakes of confusion, seeing the girl look about to see where the mystery voice had came from. She could almost laugh at such a sight, almost chalking it to cuteness instead of childish whim.

Neo shouldn’t be so hard on the new toy, after all. all she was trying to do was enjoy her mammoth ice cream creation. All Neo could see was her hair and her legs dangle from the bench, whereas Neo sat on the outside of the cafe, lounging in a chair at a table. Eyeing the abomination of flavors, Neo was reminded of her own sweet treat. She took another spoonful to savor, thinking of how else to prod the little warrioress.

Over here! The thought jut out, aiming for an opposite angle of perception, one on the other side of the Valkyrie. Neo kept her eyes down looking at her dessert and seeming to be completely disinterested in the woman. When her transmission was over, she glanced not to Nora but to the shop on the other side of the road, making sure the ginger was within the corner of her eye.

Mercury knew that this was her favored perch, but that wasn’t why he stole it. He just wanted a place to sit, and all the chairs here sucked… so he was just sitting on the one place that offered any sort of comfort. If his act happened to piss her off, that was fine by him. She was so stuck up, so frustrating, and so narcissistic… he would do anything just to make her angry.

“Roman, useful? He’s been beaten by kids time after time. Stealing dust… kids beat him. Trying to steal dust again? Kids beat him. In a giant robot suit? He needs your tiny ass to save him. He’s a fucking washout, Cinder just uses him because he has connections and can at least follow orders. His tail is tucked so far between his legs that he’s a good little lapdog for Cinder.” Mercury spat, eying Neo with a hateful expression.

“As for defense mechanisms, you’re one to talk. I wonder if you act like such a bitch because you’re resigned to the fact that nobody likes you, or if you’re just naturally so unlikable that everyone here feels a part of their soul die when you enter the room?”

Ahh, right. The ever so constructive counters that a mere child could conjure. Neo hadn’t moved from her point, just continued to exert her voice in this small debacle.

You’d know the feeling quite well, seeing as how you also provided fruitless efforts against one child. She boredly looked over to the side, diverting her gaze as though it was something better to do.

In fact, even with his ‘losses’, he’s still come out on top. And if I recall correctly, you, too, have a ‘tiny ass’ to get yourself out of trouble. How peculiar. Her iris flickered back to the silver gunman with a small smile, her hands wrapped around the curve of her parasol as she rested it against the ground, the tip almost digging into the warehouse floor. Seems to me that you’re just jealous. There he is, rotting in a jail cell, and yet for a lapdog he has done faaaar more than what you have ever accomplished!

A hand made its way to her mouth as she covered it in small jest, although no sound came from the petite woman. Her spirit was enough to make up what little laughs she would’ve made, thick and sharp in the room. Makes me wonder why Cinder wouldn’t throw you out back into the kennel where you came from. She could do so much better if she honestly tried.

Mercury cared about a lot of things. Cinder’s opinion, Emerald’s feelings, his looks… but Neopolitan and Roman were nowhere near that list. They were a perfect match, idiotic narcissists who thought they were so much better than everyone else. They had their talents, and they had their uses, but at the end of the day they were just more of Cinder’s equipment. Of course, he noticed her arrival. She liked to be alone, probably because nobody liked her… and this was her usual place of refuge. He didn’t even try to speak up, instead letting her project her annoying voice into his mind. Sighing, he didn’t even turn to face her. “Well, I figured that the police were far better at putting away Cinder’s equipment than she was.” he replied, smirking at nobody in particular. “I’m sure he’s doing fine in the slammer, that pompous prick was made to get ass blasted behind bars.”

Ohhh, that was a clever stab. Ahahahaha, as if she hadn’t heard that retort before. She always overheard the animals prat on about how ol’ Torchwick was in the slammer, and how they could slack off and and do less work now. Of course, they met with an undesireable consequence of Neo on their backs, but hey, that was neither here nor there. The point was that Mercury could only wish he could place a dent in Neo. If only he knew how far the pins could sink into her pincushion of a soul before it even grazed the core.

Her eyes never left the mercenary as she circled around him, eventually meeting with his gaze, not even bothering to drink in the perch he had so loftily st himself upon, the perch which had always belonged to her and solely her. Such scum.

Funny! It’s even funnier knowing that Roman has been proved more useful than you’ve been, right here and now. She stopped in front of Mercury’s field of vision, her glance unmoving, her face unflinching. He’s within the same proximity of Ironwood, as well as providing them a sense of false security. Meanwhile, all you’ve been doing is being a good little boy, kept in line! A cattish smile spread onto Neo’s face, one that was like a spoilt little child’s. It must be nice, talking so much when you’ve done so little. Tell me, is big talk all you can do? It must be your defense mechanism, to compensate for something much, much smaller.

Nora loved Sundays. Well, Nora loved a lot of things. Like her team, stuffed animals, Magnhild, Rain, Snow, Funny movies, giraffes, ursas, pancakes, lien, playing dodgeball, and…

“Ice cream!” she chirped, giggling happily as she read the menu. Of course, she knew every flavor by heart. You could just show her a picture of the display window and she could name each and every flavor there was. She just looked down, eyes wide, hands on the glass. Her nose pressed into the glass, she stared at the flavors. Someone behind her opened their mouth to ask her to hurry up, but the man behind the counter waved them off. One did not get in between Nora and her ice cream. Eventually, she decided on her order. She wanted a Neapolitan cone, a scoop of creamy vanilla, a scoop of extra chocolate chunk, and then a scoop of strawberries and creme! She took the offered waffle cone, tossing the exact amount of lien needed at the cashier, and happily skipped towards a nearby bench to enjoy her treat.

She ended up sitting next to a stranger, but that was ok! Nora was quick to introduce herself. She told them about where she was born, about how she grew up, about how her little brother was almost up to her shoulders now, about how she had the bestest team in the world, and about how she knocked Yang Xiao Long of team RWBY into the atmosphere during a food fight! The person beside her seemed genuinely entertained, but they had a meeting to get to, and so they bid her adieu, leaving her alone to let her legs dangle from the bench as she licked away.

So her inklings were true. The mystery patron spoke yards and miles about the food fight incident, and how she had absolutely squashed Yang. Or, rather, how she knocked the blonde brute into the sky. She went on and on, and on, and even more on, but with each droplet of information, Neo grew more intrigued. She was hyper, fast, exhilarating.. Seemed to be easy enough to distract, seeing as how she hadn’t even the focus for one ice cream flavor. Goodness, just looking at the monstrous creation was enough to tell Neo about the woman. She wanted to be all over the place, to experience and to have people experience with her. Seeing the other patron excuse themselves amused Neo. Haven’t the patience for an onslaught of rays of sunshine, it seemed.

Being able to conquer Yang, though.. That meant that Nora had a lot of thunder power. Surely the young lady would have a brain to accompany all that brawn? A small smile curled onto the pastel maiden’s face as she closed her eyes and began to relish her dessert.

You’re so cute, miss!! A cheery demeanor flew into Nora’s head, the voice seeming from over her shoulder, yet no one had passed by the whimsical warrior. Neo opened one eye just barely to see how the girl would react to the trick of the mind, an ace in her sleeve.

She wasn’t expecting anyone to be here, to be quite frank. She knew it was stupid, heralding this frequented place as one of solace, but it was one of the many small indulgences she allowed herself, much like the ice cream she enjoyed to feast on, much like the clothes that she liked to wear. She favored this place because it was the last time he was here. It was one of the few places he heard his grumbling voice, his lighter flick. It was the last place she remembered smelling his smoke, and if she concentrated enough, she could remake the smell within her mind. She wouldn’t dare replicate it, not outside; she wouldn’t want her last memory to be a lie.

So when Neo walked into the main room of the warehouse hideout, the one with the desk that had been used by many and the one where one could see all of the hard work that had been poured in by the clockwork man and by his cronies, she didn’t expect one of Cinder’s pets to be here. She didn’t expect that flash of grey here, especially not at such a late time, especially not on a school night, for his side of the story was to be an angel of a boy so that way no covers could be blown, so that Cinder wouldn’t have a hard time and not whine.

What the hell was he doing here? Couldn’t he be useless somewhere else? The nerve of him, intruding on such a small night. Her glare bore into his backside, wondering if the lone pup had noticed her walking in. She barely made a sound, for such a small being she honestly was, a kitten. But a cheshire was her true nature, with claws as sharp as her grin.

She almost didn’t want to say anything, she honestly didn’t want this piece of garbage within her breathing space, but damn him if he thought he was going to get the first serve of sarcasm. That delicacy would always be bitten by her first. I thought Cinder would’ve put away her arsenal by now. Had she simply forgotten one of her tools due to stress?

Sundae Sweets

It was a Sunday today. It was a day to relax before the big grind of Monday were to roll around and cast its dreary droll onto the population of Remnant, or at least those in Vale. The aura of “last seconds of freedom” layered into the sweat and bustle of the city, making an aroma that one could only get in Vale. It was a warm one, just lukewarm. Never enough to melt the chill people had in fear of tomorrow, but just enough to make things comfortable.

“Your dessert, miss.” The waiter announced before placing a lavish glass filled with ice cream in front of the pastel maiden. She nodded softly, looking back with a gleam in her eye, as if to say “thank you!”. The waiter shoved off, busy with his last strings of the day as well, and would arrive later to pick up payment.

Neo looked back to her cold treat and could only offer a small smile of delight. Sundays, yes, were a day of celebration, a small “hoorah” before the grind of the week began once more. And she had planned to relish her small concoction with the utmost bliss. Taking the long spoon, she took a scoopful of the creamy dessert and took a bite!

She was in the middle of savoring the sweetness when she stopped to slow down. Hmm.. Where had she seen that array of color before? Neo had made sure to don herself in casual clothes, just a striped top and some cute jeans, but that orange hair, nay, that piercing voice... Neo’s memories began to whirr as she tried to figure out who the other patron was, her distance only being a gaze away. Did she mention Rwby, or was that her imagination..?
