MassacreĀ Attempt || V8 W5 || Late Friday Afternoon || Charlie, Percy, PU! Meredith
Meredith had been spending the past few nights with her counterpart, not really having much of anywhere to go, for one, and not feeling confident in leaving the meeker version of herself to her own devices. At any rate, this Charlie person and his kind were still stalking around New York, and this being the third time there was attempt on her life- well, if they found out she was alive, it was unlikely she would live to tell a fourth tale.
Currently the two were not talking- her counterpart had went to lock herself in her room, pouting or practicing or both- and she was lying on the couch, twirling a knife left behind at her counterpartās former apartment. The familiar sound of gunfire echoed somewhere on campus, causing her to tense up, before rolling off the couch.
She ran to the bedroom, opening the door, making sure the other was okay. She was, hiding her head while sitting on the bed,Ā āGet fucking down!ā She demanded, dragging the girl to the floor in between the bed and the wall, with a firmĀ āstay!ā motion of her hand.
Meredith locked her counterpart in the room- she had a restroom, probably food- the illusion would wear in a few hours, if all hell broke loose, and thatās what it was sounding like. Mass bedlam and bullets echoed on campus from indiscriminate origins. She tried to focus on one of the sounds, but to no avail. For safety, she did her best to blend into the background, a form of camouflage good for avoiding round ups or arrests otherwise.
It was when she saw a student go down, a young kid of maybe fifteen, that she was able to find where some of the shots were coming from. It was better than nothing, and as there were multiple shooters, eventually one would lead her to Charlie.
And as luck would have it, first time was the charm. Meredith stepped behind the man and grabbed him in time before he could assassinate another student. She had no stake in their well being, but this was senseless bloodshed. She kept an iron grip on the man, before kicking behind his knee to force him to a more manageable height.Ā āBet this was a better idea when you woke up,ā She said, before shoving her pistol into the soft spot between his skull and neck and pulling the trigger.Ā āGood fucking riddance.ā

At Charlieās command, Percy steeled his mind, raised his gun and⦠nothing. He could see he targets, he knew he could hit them, but he couldnāt force himself to pull the trigger. He tried again, aiming at a different gaggle of students, but again he just didnāt have it in him. Panic rising in his chest, he watched the carnage going on below, so transfixed he didnāt even notice anyone sneaking up behind them.
The face of the person pulling Charlie away from her was shocking. He honestly hadnāt been expecting the meager, useless girl to have survived the knife to the gut, let alone be trying to kill her. To say that Charlie hadnāt been expecting this when sheād gotten up that morning was an understatement. It had been the furthest thing from his mind, not even really something heād considered.
Before any snarky reply could leave Charlieās mouth, he felt the gun on her skin and heard the click of the trigger. Everything was a blur. Blood flew everywhere, some even splattering on Percy. The shouting in the quad and parking lot stopped and sirens could be heard in the distance, making their way to the school.
The only thing that would have made this more poetic is if it had been Leroy killing Charlie for taking out his Evo daughter. But unfortunately, she was still alive.
