PsxLain Nodes

I will try posting every PsxLain Node in a post.

Please open the blog in site mode (or however it's called). I did not realize coloring the text will make it hard to read on the white background in Dashboard mode, since in the other menus the background is in dark mode.

This is NOT supposed to be a way to experience the game.

Site A: 100% (except for the TaK nodes from level 14 onward, I'll get to them one day I hope)

Why I'm doing this:

I've played this game two times already, but I feel like there is still so much I don't understand about it, so I will be writing out every Node individually, to make sure that I get every bit of information.

The other reason is trying to get more people to talk about this game.

Tagging system:

I will tag every post with the tags from the game, the name of the Node (ex: #Tda010 ), the type of file (ex: Touko’s Diary) and any tag that I make up on the spot (characters speaking/mentioned, ideas, and anything that passes my mind at that moment)

After a post:

If I have something to say about a specific node, I will reblog it and say whatever I want to say.

If anyone else has anything to say, PLEASE also reblog a post and share your thoughts about the node(s)! It can be anything, even if you feel like it adds nothing to the conversation. I don't know if I just suck at searching but I can't find anyone discussing this game.

I still plan on doing the rest of the TaK nodes, except that i will be doing that when I will replay the game, which I'm not sure when it will be.

also, the reason I will be replaying the game is because this time i want to take more in-depth notes, which I will be releasing here, along with a bigger analysis of the entire game

Lain: It's over.

Detective: First of all, regarding the suicides of two researchers at our center, there have been rumors that their deaths had to do with them exploring some strange area of research, like something out of a science fiction novel. I reassure you that that is completely untrue. This center specializes in the study of communication and mental illness. Fundamentally, this is not a facility for clinical medicine. Our staff sometimes visits hospitals at their invitation, but basically, all we do here is research. I don't know how to apologize to her parents of those researchers. I am quite overcome.

Interviewer: I've heard that the female researcher who took her life had some patients.

Detective: She was unique. She treated people clinically at this research center. But this was her own decision.

Interviewer: I've heard rumors that one of the researchers who died was mentally ill. Is that true?

Detective: We can't really comment on that right now.

Interviewer: But seeing that she took her own life, she may have had some type of mental illness.

Detective: There are many things a person may call it, but there's no doubt that she was suffering deeply. Suicide is very extreme, but she must have been under a lot of stress. A psychiatrist is still just a human being.

Interviewer: Did she catch her mental illness from her patients?

Detective: Mental illness isn't a contagious disease, So no, she didn't 'catch' anything from her patients. We wouldn't use that expression. She may have been influenced by the patients to a degree. You may call that a sort of contagion if you'd like. It's a matter of semantics. But don't let anyone trick you about this sort of thing. All of this doctor's patients were healthy. I can't get into specifics because of privacy issues.

Interviewer: Are there other things that might explain her behavior? Did the researcher who took her life may have had devious intentions?

Detective: We're in the middle of an investigation, and I can't comment too much on that out of respect for her friends and family. However, I've been informed that that has absolutely nothing to do with it. I would rather...

Interviewer: You would rather?

Touko(?): The client has discovered the connection between herself and reality, and has completely recovered from her ego disturbance. The results from the BPRS and HAM-D tests showed no problems whatsoever. I completed my first treatment successfully.

Lain: You don’t want to do anything? How about your research?

Touko: No one will want to read my paper anyway.

Lain: What’s wrong? It’s not like you to play a victim.

Touko: Not like me! What am I?

Lain: You’re just Touko-san, Touko-san.

Touko: I’ve been severed from society. I’m no longer connected.

Lain: That’s not true. I’m connected to you. I’m connected to society. That’s why you’re connected, too.

Touko: Something’s wrong with me, isn’t there? The times when I talk to you and the time I spend with everything else are separate. From your point of view, my life must be a contradiction.

Lain: My point of view?

Touko: From your point of view, this world doesn’t exist.

Lain: No. That’s not true. I’m connected to this world.

Touko: I can’t take it anymore. I can’t even stand this moment. That’s not all. My memories of tomorrow...the memories I’ll have in the future are in disarray. Is this a delusion caused by worrying? Am I experiencing something I shouldn’t be experiencing?

Lain: That’s you, isn’t it?

Touko: It is me! Because it is me!

Lain: Wouldn’t you be better off if you were just being yourself?

Touko: I can’t understand my sense of self from moment to moment!

Lain: The judgment you have exactly at that moment is you, Touko-san. The rest is...
