I like to think that constructs were created through sheer trial and error. I have no reason to belive that even in the far distant sci-fi future we actually understand how the mind works. We know psychology and psychiatry and neurology but we don't really truly know how/why it works, we just know what works. We don't have a neuron by neuron map of the brain or the ability to convert thought into code. We can code impulses and instructions but not thought.

I think construct creators were just throwing shit at the wall until stuff started working, and then they refined it. They don't know the cell-by-cell intricacies of a construct's brain, they just know that that tissue connected to that pathway simply works. That's all they care about.

Construct development probably took hundreds of years of trying stuff out. Makes me think about the shit early constructs had to go through because the technicians that made them didn't understand them. What about all the sentient failed attempts that were forced to go IHNMAIMS style? What about the first set of constructs they experimented on to make the governor module?

Oh wait that's just real life wetware. We have constructs in real life, sort of, did you know?
