     ” you sure you’re alright? ‘

watching conner squirm was more than worth it. it might be payback for something - the specifics were out. it might be just because, just for fun, or just to see how red conner would get before he tries to punch someone, or something. preferably not someone — he didn’t want to destroy another one of conner’s shirts, at least not so soon.

     ” you look like you’re about to pop. “

        he makes small, quiet breaths        to try and calm him down --        and they work for the most part.        he managed to collect his        embarrassment and anger to        settle for an answer, that didn't        end in him tackling brandon to        the ground and punching him in        the face.

          It was probably a good thing that Jimmy didn’t startle easy. Life as The Man of Steel’s best friend had thrown it’s fair share of surprises at him, and he had long since grown out of screaming and jump- —ing in the air when startled. At most the reaction from him was a sharp inhale between suddenly clenched teeth, and the lightest of jolts; hands clenching the glass of water between his hands.            Boo, really? This dork here——               “Sorry, I thought I was being quiet.               Didn’t mean to wake you up.”            He started, sheepishly, rubbing a hand over the back of his head and walking to the kitchen counter, keeping the glass between his hands as he scooted up and sat on it, another roll of thunder echoing in the background.

     wondering why his friend seemed a        little bit distant, conner put his hands        on jimmy's shoulders and gave him a        faux massage, before letting him go to        sit on the counter.

           ❝ don't sweat it.                 -- i'm a light sleeper. ❞

       he flashed a reassuring smile, and        sat himself next to jimmy, looking out        to the darkness outside. the thunder        rolled in the silence they left, in which        conner would ocassionally look over to        see if jimmy flinched -- or if he looked        at him.        time to break it. 

   "Is that a complaint?     You shouldn’t walk in on a guy like that.”
