Feint of Heart ( ap )

Deeply, like the vastness of the sea You are a very passionate person.

You feel everything so intensely, and that definitely includes love. You need someone who will match that passion, that intensity. You need someone who will care about you as much as you care about them, but you have a hard time finding that. You're usually the one who loves more, and it's sad sometimes, but it's okay. But you will find someone who loves you just as much as you love them.

She can tell that Abel is disappointed. He’s still living in the hopes of that old woman to return, to love him as she couldn’t, to have easy nights together and small, fleeting moment of normalcy. 

There’s a bitter taste on the Brutal’s tongue.

For now, she ignores it. 

“Oh yeah. We’re not necessarily killing his goons. Unless they get in the way. Mostly we’re stealing his shit.”

Shannon releases Abel’s hand, allowing him to lead the way to the car.

He nods, stealing to the hallway closet for just a moment to grab his go-bag before rejoining her with it and the keys in hand. This has become normal, and he’s not sure he minds it much anymore. Better Shannon than Administration giving him hits. 

Just another Friday night out, really. It does feel... dull in a way, but it’s what he has. He throws his bag in the back seat and starts the car.

Shannon flashes a grin, playful. As if she’s about to drag him out on some benign date, roller skating followed by ice cream. Two scoops, naturally.

What comes out of her mouth is not that.

“We’re pulling one over on my dealer. Bastard keeps changing the terms on me.”

Her expression matched with her words still cause a strange twist in Abel’s stomach-- she’s Shannon now, and he doesn’t see his mousy girl in her face near at all anymore, but he does miss the times that smile meant something sweet instead of bloody. 

“That’s what I wanted to hear,” Shannon purrs, expression more than a little pleased. She looks to cat who ate the canary.

She slips her hand around his, tugging him up from her…well, his desk. It seems so far away, and yet close enough to become routine again.

“You good with some fun?”

“When am I not, sweetheart?” Well, at least he is more often than he’s not. He used to be more wary with her-- her tastes are... more extreme than his most of the time, now-- but the break in the boredom is more than welcome. 

He lets her pull him up with a quirked brow, begging the question.
