It's so easy to be bitter, cynical and/or jaded.
We are constantly bombarded by not only horrible things going on in the world, but are shown people whose success feeds our insecurities. We are told that there is a set path to life, and those who refuse to follow that outline and set forth on a path of their own are stigmatized and mocked for going against what others believe to be normal.
We are told to measure success by materialistic things, by how many friends you have, how many people you've had in your bedroom. Such things do not truly matter, for they are merely temporary.
I believe that one must fight against this feeling of bitterness, of disillusion, and of fear. One must realize that while it might be okay to feel such emotions from time to time, that these emotions becoming a constant will hurt you in the long run.
We must look at these things and remember that while horrible things do exist, there is even more beauty and love in this world than we could ever even hope to comprehend. So many people willing to help those they don't even know, merely for the act of easing another's suffering.
