WEEK 1, DAY 1 - a bloody good start, not.
Hello! My name is Sumi and I've created this blog to kind of show you guys who are interested (and even those who aren't) the progress of creating the drivesuit from Pacific Rim, the American drivesuit (basically Gipsy Danger). I think this could be helpful for me in the future since I'll basically be making costume armour and maybe even help those who are interested in creating the suit.Â
This project is going to last for around 12 months so some weeks will probably be boring or nothing will happen. Those weeks I probably won't bother posting.Â
I'm the kind to give up easy but I would really like to do this! SO if you're an experienced costume maker (in the costume armour department) then please hit me up because I know jack shit.
ANYWAYS,
I just got back home from Comic Con and I'm really tired haha. I'll probably go and play on Xbox with my sister. BUT, I've started gathering images for reference and I've begun brainstorming ideas concerning the suit.
So Mako's suit will be the one I'm making. I'm thinking about using some sort of foam board for it. Like maybe EVA foam? At first Wonderflex seemed like choice #1 but JFC! It's expensive as shit and I've got a student budget. I'm going to start work soon but dayummm soooon...
I'm thinking to use some sort of body suit as a starting point and slowly build on. Gah, I get nervous when I think about it but... I'm readdyyy for thissss. I have this summer to get some things together.
I intend to create the helmet as well but probably make it so I can just carry it around. I don't really want to be wearing a helmet whilst I'm in a drivesuit....... because of this I don't really mind if the helmet doesn't look exactly the same.
That's probably it for the day.
you can always find me in the drift.
