more panels that are either complete or nearly there.
1. Page 33, Thunderstryke landing
2. Engines preparing for launch
3. Thunderstryke going to warp
4. Devi Wick, having way too much fun doing her job.
soooo the pages i had way too much fun with, basically.
Some pages in progress from my thesis! First is page 6, and the other is the first spread👍
The most remarkable things happen when you push the laws of physics to their extremes. Such a place where this happens is space:
Far away in the Gliese star system is a Neptune-sized planet called Gliese 436 b. This world is covered in ice that burns constantly at 822.2˚ Fahrenheit (439˚ C).
The reason why the water doesn’t liquify and then turn into steam is due to the massive gravity of the planet - it exerts so much force on the water that the atoms are bound tightly together as a solid.
Engage warp!
Just a bit of rendering of what i think warp drive looks like (based off of how the Alcubierre drive supposedly operates) , heading in the direction you’re going. Space squishes at the front, so, i figured light follows the space-time as it squishes and from the traveler’s pov there’d be this giant tidal wave of light as it all hits the space bubble at once. cause it squished.
who knows maybe i’m wrong. eitherway, SPAAAAAAAAAAAACE!

Val meeting the Thunderstryke, and soon, Hadrian.
Finished storyboard page 3!
full disclosure, every time i listen to a Capella science, I can’t help but imagine the Thunderstryke crew having a lip sync contest in their casual wear on the ship.
Some intriguing exoplanets
An exoplanet or extrasolar planet is a planet that orbits a star other than the Sun. The first scientific detection of an exoplanet was in 1988. However, the first confirmed detection came in 1992; since then, and as of 1 April 2017, there have been 3,607 exoplanets discovered in 2,701 planetary systems and 610 multiple planetary systems confirmed.
1- Kepler-186f
was the first rocky planet to be found within the habitable zone – the region around the host star where the temperature is right for liquid water. This planet is also very close in size to Earth. Even though we may not find out what’s going on at the surface of this planet anytime soon, it’s a strong reminder of why new technologies are being developed that will enable scientists to get a closer look at distant worlds.
2- CoRoT 7b
The first super-Earth identified as a rocky exoplanet, this planet proved that worlds like the Earth were indeed possible and that the search for potentially habitable worlds (rocky planets in the habitable zone) might be fruitful.
3- Kepler-22b
A planet in the habitable zone and a possible water-world planet unlike any seen in our solar system.
4- Kepler 10-b
Kepler’s first rocky planet discovery is a scorched, Earth-size world that scientists believe may have a lava ocean on its surface.
5- 55 Cancri e
55 Cancri e is a toasty world that rushes around its star every 18 hours. It orbits so closely – about 25 times closer than Mercury is to our sun – that it is tidally locked with one face forever blisters under the heat of its sun. The planet is proposed to have a rocky core surrounded by a layer of water in a “supercritical” state, where it is both liquid and gas, and then the whole planet is thought to be topped by a blanket of steam.
6- 51 Pegasi b
This giant planet, which is about half the mass of Jupiter and orbits its star every four days, was the first confirmed exoplanet around a sun-like star, a discovery that launched a whole new field of exploration.
7- Kepler-444 system
The oldest known planetary system has five terrestrial-sized planets, all in orbital resonance. This weird group showed that solar systems have formed and lived in our galaxy for nearly its entire existence.
8- PSR B1257+12 system
Discovered in 1992 and 1994, the planets that orbit pulsar PSR B1257+12 are not only the smallest planetary bodies known to exist outside our solar system, they also orbit a neutron star. These weird “pulsar planets” demonstrated that planets exist in all environments in the galaxy – even around the remnants of an exploded star.
9- HD 80606 b
This world has the most eccentric orbit, and as one scientist put it, “wears its heart on its sleeve,” with storms, rotation, atmospheric heating, and a crazy orbit all plainly visible.
10- OGLE-2005-BLG-390
Considered to be the first cold super Earth, this exoplanet began to form a Jupiter-like core of rock and ice, but couldn’t grow fast enough in size. Its final mass is five times that of Earth. The planet’s nickname is Hoth, after a planet from Star War

ESA to Develop Gravitational Wave Space Mission with NASA Support
ESA (the European Space Agency) has selected the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) for its third large-class mission in the agency’s Cosmic Vision science program. The three-spacecraft constellation is designed to study gravitational waves in space and is a concept long studied by both ESA and NASA.
ESA’s Science Program Committee announced the selection at a meeting on June 20. The mission will now be designed, budgeted and proposed for adoption before construction begins. LISA is expected to launch in 2034. NASA will be a partner with ESA in the design, development, operations and data analysis of the mission.
LISA consists of three spacecraft separated by 1.6 million miles (2.5 million kilometers) in a triangular formation that follows Earth in its orbit around the sun. Each spacecraft carries test masses that are shielded in such a way that the only force they respond to is gravity. Lasers measure the distances to test masses in all three spacecraft. Tiny changes in the lengths of each two-spacecraft arm signals the passage of gravitational waves through the formation.

I.S.C THUNDERSTRYKE - Cockpit
can you tell i’ve never set foot in a real space craft?
So, a few weeks later i got the layout of the cockpit dashboard done! I realized when I went to storyboard that part, I had NO CLUE where anything was! next will be the average crew quarters room below deck, possibly the bathroom, med-bay and if i get REALLY bored, the cargo bay.
So, left is the pilot seat, and right is co-pilot, and on the left you can see that driver picks the music, shot gun shuts his cake hole, and someone has added DIY cup holders to the dashboard. On the right, someone got very bored with the white board. the general appearance was inspired by the NASA Gemini command module, and a little from the Apollo 11.
Spoilers for plot below:

honestly one of my favorite lines in my preliminary script.
Brady: “In all likelihood, its some plucky, bushy tailed kid from Earth with a degree in astrophysics and a dream. All we gotta do is go out to the middle of nowhere or dangle them over a black hole and they’ll be begging to go home.”
he’s got a heart of gold, I promise.

The ship:
the I.S.C (Independent Space Craft) Thunderstryke!
and a scale comparison to the space shuttle and the blackbird because i recently visited Discovery and Blackbird, and could imagine my ship talking up the entire space wing of the museum, give or take 10 feet. there’s also a tiny man for scale.
the working character sheet!
finally some progress, anyway from left to right:
“grumpy space dad who’s too old for this shit but the ship’s in his name and the jobs keep the lights on.”
space dad’s adopted son, legal citizen of Texas, and fan of large guns.
joined for science and stayed because ya break it you buy it: galactic edition(tm), brought the laser bow
“buckle up assholes, hadrian bet me 20$ i couldn’t do a barrel roll in this thing and i’m about to be 20$ richer.” and “yippie kaiay, bitches!” *finger guns*
“well, dangle me over a black hole and call me scotty”, owns an “I want to believe” shirt un-ironically. knows first aid and learned keeping-the-crew-alive on the job.
so here’s a peek at the ship!
with a tiny man for scale, and named after the song Thunderstruck by ACDC.

concept art for a space station, its not quite finished, in fact...i just noticed that ring isn’t connected but. hey. look at that aurora and those black holes out there.
A preview of the character line up sheet I may also make a oil slick/ holographic effect tutorial this summer. 👍
