there's a lot of silly hockey fan superstitions and game day routines out there but my personal favorite that I've adopted is taking my t rex in paleo pines out for a lil walkie bc I named him frederik andersen
(all of the dinos in this save are named after canes players of course)
I didn’t wash my canes hoodie all throughout the games against Montreal!

Does anyone know if Felasson was originally a spirit that took form, or was he born from elven parents?
Kliff is giving Rowan Whitethorn vibes 😂

Crimson Desert.
One of the things I love about this game are the water mechanics. You really feel like you’re swimming and when you come out, your outfit always appears wet! Love it 🤩
running around Crimson Desert collecting dyes for my armor. we lost the plot awhile ago.

Maybe someone call help me understand the lore better. PLEASE, I can't stop thinking about this.
So. Solas used to be Wisdom, until Mythal convinced (coerced?) him into taking a physical body. He tells us he was Solas first, before Fen'Harel. The name Solas means Pride, and it is pretty hard to argue that would be a coincidence. His name isn't random. It must have been the name he took (or was given) as soon as he took physical form. So.. was it the act of becoming a physical being that broke him?
And another question. Do spirits exist as a two sided coin, so to speak? Wisdom-Pride, Purpose-Desire, etc. Or do both aspects exist in them at the same time? Are the aspects that we consider "bad" actually bad? One could argue that the Fear demon in the Fade in Inquisition was doing something good before it was corrupted, taking people's fear to ease it. Likewise with Cole, releasing those who were suffering to death. He considered himself a demon/bad for his actions at that time. Not every aspect of Pride or Desire are bad either. Only when they are the only thing in control. Clearly Solas is not driven only by Pride. Is that because of his physical body?
🤔
Here's my two cents:
Spirits/demons aren't two separate sides, they're beings of concentrated purpose/emotion. So the problems start when they're denied their purpose or they are forced against their purpose - then they become twisted.
So Wisdom doesn't contain an evil “Pride half” inside it but Wisdom can become Pride if it loses balance/denied it's purpose.
DA introduced the term demons but what Solas has been tying to explain is that they aren't separate things. Demons are spirits and spirits are demons - spirits will just exhibit the negative/corrupted nature when they can't fully express what they are.
So for me, yes I think Solas choosing to manifest changed him immediately (I believe Solas chose his own name as he was aware of this, but that's just me).
And pride isn't automatically evil. Pride can mean having a strong sense of self, believing in your convictions, caring deeply about something, or refusing to bow to what you think is wrong. The danger is when someone becomes too certain that only they are right. So if that spirit becomes completely convinced that its understanding is always correct, Wisdom can slowly turn into Pride. And if its constantly being ignored, dismissed, mistrusted, or forced into situations where nobody listens, that Wisdom can harden that way as well.
I don't think taking a physical body is what broke Solas. I think what broke him was constantly acting against his own nature afterward. Solas still feels connected to his spirit side (there's plenty of dialogue in DAI and DAV that supports this), but he spent centuries doing things that went against that nature: war, killing, tranquilizing the Titans, and making choices he knew were wrong or dangerous because he believed he had to for Mythal or for his people or for his own grief and regret.
Over time, continually ignoring his better judgement and turning away from the person he wanted to be slowly changed him (just like it changed all the ancient elves I'm sure).
So to me, spirits begin as pure concepts. Taking physical form creates emotional complexity, and that complexity creates inner conflict and contradiction.
I don't know, does this help? Make sense? It's just my own insight, I imagine others have way more succinct and amazing insight to share.
Agree with the above, just wanted to add that when he says he was Solas first, he likely meant he was Solas before he was Fen’Harel. There was a lot of time between him starting to go against his nature as Wisdom and him starting a rebellion against the Evanuris, the latter of which earned him the title of Fen’Harel. Also, spirits don’t usually (from what we’ve seen) have unique names, so choosing to identify as Solas would have been his first identity outside of his purpose as a spirit. He may have still gone by Wisdom after taking a physical form, only changing his name when he felt his actions no longer reflected his original purpose.
The lore of Dragon Age seems to assign a dual personality to its Elvhenan and spirits, which makes me wonder if its language is shaped to reflect this. If Solas means Pride but a spirit of Pride was/is also Wisdom, then potentially the elven language uses Solas to represent both aspects of the self. Another user asked “which came first— life or language?” so it could also be as simple as words evolving or their meaning changing over time.
My headcannon is that he was still Wisdom when he took a form but that it was over time, notably the war with the Titans and The Forgotten Ones, that forced him into fully identifying and embracing the name of Pride. Personally think that was his own decision and was not due to taking a physical form. I believe after all he witnessed and went through, he was too shameful to call himself Wisdom. My understanding is that he only took up the (assigned) titles of Dread Wolf and Fen’harel after he rebelled against the Evanuris.
