Business Cards that left a mark on the Big Screen
Have you ever paid attention to the minor nuances in the movies and wondered why actors holding business cards are shown? It could vary from hilarious, iconic or just plain odd, but it somehow helps to show the side of the character and often the plot will be affected by it.
Let us touch base on business cards which are used in movies and TV shows. We’ll check out the both good and bad-ones and will discuss why a good business card actually matters in real life.
Let us not forget the creepily written card from “Squid Game”? Yes, the one that depicts the circles offering indulgent credit but which in fact will drag you into playing games that kill. It had done its job within the story, luring in those players who thirst for a desperate game, but it also portrayed a haunting image of popular culture.Talk about dark marketing!
In “American Psycho” it could be considered that Christian Bale’s Patrick Bateman may be one of the top fashions, but his business card game? Not very good at all. The scene where his unremarkable card got totally ignored is now among the movie’s greatest hit scenes. The poor boy just wanted to be fine.
However, these playing cards, which the Joker uses to introduce himself in “The Dark Knight”, are indeed recognizable, but they are definitely out of touch with both personalization and professionalism. That's obviously not what he is aiming for, but with just a dash of branding would be good enough?
Ace Ventura’s card in his eponymous and quirky film itself is highly conspicuous, colorful and complements his wild detective style.
Although the movie is not like a fine wine with refined tastes, the card is forever in the memory. (say this from the same stance that I'm from)
Let’s not leave Agent K’s “Men in Black” leave his credit alone as it is so minimalist it almost goes undetected!Initials and handwritten details? No, not quite the professional standards, even for space diplomats.
Business Card Do’s & Don’s
• Stand out: Be pithy, but don’t get carried away (Unlike Squid Game’s spine-chilling card).
• Be personal: Write about the brand personality or reflect your personality as Ace Ventura’s odd design does.
• Prioritize clarity: Also, Agent K is included (don’t have to scramble looking for those illegible notes!)
• Invest in quality: Cheap materials waft the wrong message.
• Blend in: Be bold, but not dull as a plain card containing only one sentence that says, "I had an amazing night at the party, but I lost my jacket. Can anyone help me?"
• Alienate your audience: Prevent wit and allusions that may possibly not work.
• Sacrifice professionalism: The joker is not mistaken even once for the card lacks all the important details.
• Forget about engagement: Let’s talk about the different options at hand like QR codes, digital options, or interactive touch elements.
Not just list contact info, but
However, the Movie Cards are not just a part of the scenery; they are vehicles into character’s personality, occupation and even the theme of the movie. The can be hilarious, puzzling or even downright scary.
This means that the next time a business card shows up in a movie, examine the details more carefully. And what's more, it may even tell you more than you wanted.
