There were boxes almost up to the ceiling throughout her apartment from Amelia, but she wouldnât want it any other way. The girl was just as extra as she could be, and they wouldnât be elite princesses without their high maintenance qualities. But unpacking could be saved for tomorrow, for now, it was time for quality time with one of her favorite people. Emerald could be a little selfish, of course, but when it came to Amelia was so especially so. With her absence over the last year, she was just waiting on the day that her bestie came back, and now that she was and she was LIVING with her? It was paradise. Soon enough, she came through her door and she beamed a sunny smile her way, âUgh, donât we all. Luckily, as far as cleaning goes, I have a maid come and tidy up once a week. So, least we have that covered. And Iâll help you unpackâŚ.tomorrow, right now, I need my Amelia time. Câmere.âÂ
Her arms stretched out wide, smiling when the princess crawled onto her large bed, curling up beside her and automatically putting her at ease. Fingers automatically coming up to comb through her best friendâs hair, she laughed a bit at what she said, âBeauty, brains, and magic? Really, it wouldnât be fair to the rest of the world, youâre right. Besides, you have enough money to buy some stuff if things donât go your way, which hardly ever happens anyways.â Emerald reminded her, shooting her a look with a little smile, moving a bit to face her as she took her hands, âWell, thatâs tough. I wish I could like, know what people are thinking. That way I can know peopleâs intentions and if they are gonna hurt me or someone I care about-â Pausing, she rolled her eyes and flopped onto her back, staring at the ceiling, âGenie always told me and my family if we need anything, he knows some people butâŚmy folks donât want to rely on wishes and stuff.â
There were so few people who could make her feel as at ease as Emerald. From the moment their paths crossed, it was as if they were destined for one another, two halves of one whole, the stars in her sky. Everything could fall to pieces, but Ameliaâs worries would melt upon a few kind and gentle words coming from her lips. It was how she found herself now, shoulders un-tensing the second she felt Emeraldâs fingers brush through her hair, allowing herself to revel in the feel as she listened to her speak.Â
It was true; seldom did things go awry for Amelia, always someone willing to bend to the princessâ will upon the slightest of pouts or the flash of her platinum credit card. Still, it was nice to imagine, if only for a moment, that she could make things fall into place with only a swish of her hand. âLike with He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named,â she said, referring to Dev, but she didnât want to be so bold as to say his name aloud and risk ruining the moment, âwouldâve been nice to know his intentions before it all went down, but thatâs why Iâm here, to help you weed out the good from the bad. Nothing less than the best for my heart.âÂ
âWhy are they adamant you donât? Is that not part of the reason they fell in love?â she asked, following after Emerald and resting back against the bed, though she intertwined their fingers to still keep her close. âWhatâs the worse thatâd happen? Youâd wish for world peace? For a puppy? For a man whoâs kind and handsome and thoughtful and always puts you first?â The latter of the suggestions made her burst into a small laugh as she said, âOn second thought, you may have to put me in touch with Genie to put me in touch with his people, because I know what Iâd wish for.â
