Kara Shani

"Well just because you got a quick fix this time doesn’t mean I’m a miracle worker…" She laughed. "But, I can prove that to you next time." She grinned mischievously at the woman. "Here, this is the shop number. Just in case you need help again and can’t make it in. "I know, I know." She couldn’t help herself, technology was her passion! "Just $20 for the charger and you’re good. And I can still do a free diagnostic next time because the half one I started was totally my B. So don’t let me forget if you ever need it." She plucked a brand new universal charger from the wall and unplugged Kara’s computer. "You’re going to want the one labeled C, the others won’t work but they’re good to have on hand in case you or a friend need this for a different computer." She noted. Handing the laptop back to the younger girl and moving to the register.

Kara smiled, reaching into her purse and pulling out her wallet. She snapped it open, reaching in and pulling out a twenty. "You saved my life. Otherwise I'd have to buy a whole new computer and with college and almost moving out I don't have the money for that." She laughed. Perhaps that was too much information to share? She was just too happy to care. Her baby was alive! "I'll keep that in mind. Seriously thank you so much again."

"I just need proof that you’re eighteen." He sighed and leaned against the door, "School ID? License?" Ben shrugged, not really caring whether or not she got into the club, he opened the door again, letting the last of the line go through while he watched the girl in front of him. "I’m sorry, it’s my job. If you can’t prove you’re eighteen, you’re stuck out here." 

"Eighteen?" She asked. "Well that's a whole 'nother story." She reached into her purse, pulling out her wallet and handing him her drivers license. "See? Eighteen. I'm even almost nineteen." She said with a self-assured smile. "So are there any more problems?" She asked, crossing her arms over her chest and grinning. "Or am I free to go?"

"Could be! Sometimes the chord isn’t quite as durable. And sometimes it gets bent at one point and from there the wires just… never quite go back to normal… A lot can happen that deteriorates over time and then boom one day it just stops working.” She sighed a little. Practically jumping for joy when the screen lit up. “Problem solved!”

Kara grinned, internally jumping for joy. Her computer contained her life... or at least some part of it and to lose it would be sad... like the end of an era. After all she'd spent a good five years on that baby. "Thank you!" She cried. "I should come here more often! You're really nice and it was so quick!" She smiled, wanting to hug her but held herself back. "Seriously, you're a lifesaver." She reached into her bag, pulling out her wallet. "So... what do I owe you." 

Ben just looked at the girl and rolled his eyes at her story. “ID or no entry. That’s how it works.” He watched her, gently moving her aside while he opened the door for a group that came in often, the moment that they flashed him their IDs. “Do you have ID or not?” He looked down at her, not particularly caring either way, but she wasn’t going in if she didn’t. 

"Well what if-" She said, her voice raising in pitch the teeniest bit. "I promise not to drink?" She swayed a little bit on her feet. "It's a business thing. I have to be in there." 

The Door || Ben and Open

Kara was meeting Nadia. There was supposed to be a girl here who was a good singer. She hadn't gotten too many details but Nadia didn't want to be alone so she'd rushed over (what could she say? She liked spending time with her). "I- um-  no. Actually I'm just meeting a friend here. We're scouting for talent for Pride Rock and we're here to hear someone sing." She smiled nervously. 

"Of course you don’t." He grinned at him while watching the darts. When she let out a cry of joy he started to laugh, not being able to help himself. It was kind of adorable. Even if she’d been a bit grumpy before this, he wasn’t going to be mean to her. Sometimes it was easy to get annoyed at places like this. "Hmmm, a snack you say? Well. I’m not going to turn down a snack. Do you like pretzels?" 

She gave him a questioning look and then laughed. "Who doesn't like pretzels?" Her eyes wandered around the park. "There!" She cried, pointing to a booth. "I see pretzels." Her eyes twinkled mischievously. "Race you there?" She asked, then she was off, running towards the booth, laughing as around her passerbys gave her bewildered looks. 

"Okay, Ernest can come with you, but I still think you should have name him Sonic" he told her. He then rolled his eyes at her as she spoke of dessert first. "I’m not you’re mother, you can order whatever you want in whatever order you want" he said to the older blonde. "And I’m not being an ass! If I say she can come will you two quite calling me names and ganging up on me" he said giving in. and as the conversation turned to his uncle he ignored them not wanting to argue about his uncle Saxon at the moment. 

"Probably did. Honestly I think it’s polluting the entire business and at the very least, this room." Nadia told Kara, while shooting a pointed look at Simon, then looking back to the girl and smiling. "Simon I reject your opinion of the subject of his name, however I do agree with the fact that you’re not my mother. It would make things awkward if you were." Nadia turned to him while he talked and simply gave a small nod while pursing her lips and turning to Kara. "Well I think so, what do you think Kara, do you think him giving in is going to make us nice to him again?" She giggled while plopping down into the seat beside Kara and looking up at Simon once again, "I honestly don’t understand why we don’t start off with you just giving in, it would save us a lot of time you know. Plus, your feelings wouldn’t end up being quite as hurt." She stood back up again, suddenly aware of his feelings and moved to hug him. "Do you need a hug? I feel like you need a hug now. Or do you need to do something bossly, so that you don’t feel as though your position is being challenged. Do you want to fire me? You can, I promise it’d be okay with it. Although, by the end of this meeting your mother will have rehired me, but in the mean time her and I could have a nice cup of tea." 

Kara laughed at the entire exchange. "Hmmm... I'm not sure." She told Nadia before looking up at Simon. "Do you think he's learned his lesson?" Her lips curled into a grin. "Speaking of Simon's mother, she invited me for tea but she insisted we all three go." She looked up at Simon then back at Nadia. "And by all three, I mean you, me and her. But I think she'd make an exception for Ernest." She wasn't sure why she loved teasing Simon so much. Perhaps it was because it was fun to get him worked up?

  She laughed hysterically when Kara managed to trip over her own feet, she was surprised that people couldn’t hear her a mile away.  ”Oh gosh.” She tried to stand up but then slipped on mud when Kara pulled her down, it made her laugh even more. Now her jeans were surely covered in brown mud. 

Kara laughed, feeling the mud squish under her. "We are.... but you know what?" She turned to Silena, still smiling. "It'd be boring if we weren't." She looked up at the sky. "You know it's going to start snowing soon? I'm excited."

"Yes! We’ve got them for sale, but let me test it with one first, it may just be that it’s not getting charged right. Has there been any damage to your charger?" She asked as she fished around her assorted items before pulling out a chord and proceeding to dig through a drawer for the proper end. Finally she found it and stuck it on the end of the chord and then plugged the charger in and waited a moment. noting the ‘charging’ light came on. "Let’s see… this is the easiest fix. Pray to the tech gods." She grinned before tapping the power button.

Could it really be that simple? Could a new cable be the answer to all her problems. "Not that I know of... but I have had it for a while so maybe it's just age? Or something like that?" She suggested with a light shrug of her shoulders. She smiled, looking down at the computer. Hoping, praying that it would turn on.

Simon shook his head at the woman and girl. Yes, he still called Kara a girl, he really doubted she would ever be a woman in his eye even if she saw herself as one. “Uh, fine, if you come with me I’ll take you to that new fancy Italian restaurant, you can order whatever you like” he offered to Nadia then turning to Kara. “How do I know your ready? I want to be sure, I don’t want you to be unprepared” he told her honestly, looking her in the eye. “Ernest? You mean that little ball of needles?” he joked knowing full well who Ernest was.

"Fine, on the conditions that Ernest joins the meeting and I get to order dessert first." She pursed her lips while she waited for his answer, knowing that in the end she was going to get what she wanted. She always did. "Simon stop being mean and give her a chance. She deserves a least a little one." Nadia raised a eyebrow as she sat before letting out a giggle and pulling a chair from the corner of the room over towards where she normally sat. "Sit beside me instead. That’s your best friend’s seat and I don’t think anyone wants to witness his meltdown when he sees you’re in it." Nadia gestured for the girl to get out of Saxon’s seat while she made a face at Simon. "Stop being an ass, the only way to get her prepared is to let her do it, so we’re going to let her do it." A soft smile came over her lips as she looked to Kara, happy that she was asked about her pet. Simon’s question was completely ignored, due to her knowing that he knew exactly who Ernest was, and not willing to give him her attention on the subject, unless he was going to mention how cute he was. "He’s wonderful, he loves to roll around in the plant behind my desk, so if you come wandering by that’s where he is." 

Kara looked down at the seat. "I thought the seat felt off." She stood up. "Maybe his rudeness and hatred and managed to sink into the cushions." She said before remembering that it wasn't just her and Nadia but Simon too. "Sorry," She muttered avoiding Simon's eyes and taking a seat next to Nadia. Despite the fact that Saxon was his uncle he needed to see that he wasn't as good as he thought he was.... especially around Kara. She grinned at Nadia's words. "I couldn't have put it better myself. And yay for Ernest! That sounds adorable." 

"That really depends on what it is… I doubt anything that’s wrong with it could cost more than a laptop, but if you’d rather get a new one I can pull the files and put then on a drive for you for $20" For labor and for the portable drive she’d transfer it too. "Hmm- Have you tried using a different chord?" The thought occurred to her as she was talking that the other woman may not have thought to or had access to a universal chord or another back up that would let her know it wasn’t the laptop but the chord simply not giving it the power it needed. That would be simplest solution. And cheaper for the young woman.

"A universal chord?" Kara asked, raising an eyebrow. "I don't think I've heard about that." She really didn't want to get a new computer since she loved her old one. It hadn't really caused problems before so a repair would be best in her opinion.

“No! I won’t let you take me..” She then twisted backwards in to a somersault, well a very awkward somersault as she clenched the leaves in her hand and launched them once more. They were kind of soggy and made her hands wet but who cared when you were having so much fun. 

Kara jumped back, still laughing hysterically. Unfortunately she didn't move quick enough and the soggy leaves hit her. "Aw come on!" She said, pushing the leaves off and chunking the few she could muster at Silena. She picked up another pile and was about to throw it at her but as she took a step to do it and tripped over her own feet. Instead of jumping up again she simply sat there, laughing and unable to move. She held up her hand for Silena to help her up and grinned but instead of accepting the help she pulled Silena down with her.

"First of all I still stand by what I said, you aren’t ready yet. I know you think you are, but I’m not sure if you are" he told the girl who was placing down folders. "And second" he said turning to Nadia. "You are my assistant, you’re supposed to attend these things with me, keep me on track. Your my right hand man, I mean woman" He told the older woman in the room. "And how do you know I don’t just joke around in these meetings too?" He asked feeling ganged up on.

"She’s plenty ready. You’re just being annoying about it." Nadia offered a shrug in Kara’s direction, not knowing what else to say to get him to side with them. It wasn’t as though Simon could fire her, his mother would never allow it, but that didn’t mean that he wouldn’t get angry or try. "Yes I’m your assistant and you know what? I have assisting things to do else where. Make this meeting worth my while and I might stay. Otherwise I’m going to sit at my desk and play with Ernest." Nadia had never asked Simon how he felt about her bringing her hedgehog to work, but honestly she didn’t care all that much, she wasn’t about to leave him home alone all day. "Kara, he does have a small point, we’re not exactly focused in the meetings. Not that I’m saying you shouldn’t come, because I still think you should, but it’s not super serious. At least not from his end." 

"I don't care. I want to be involved in it despite how unbuisnesslike it might be to you." She said, crossing her arms. "I know I'm ready. I can feel it. Besides you have no solid evidence or anything else that can back you up on this." She looked at Nadia. "It's two against one. I'm staying right here." She plopped down into a seat and refused to budge. Then She smiled up at Nadia. "How is Ernest doing these days. I haven't seen him in a while."

Silena let out a loud laugh; unable to control herself she actually felt her stomach muscles contract in the pain from the laughter. Her knees curled up to her chest as she tried to get up and managed to rest on her knees as Kara threw leaves at her.

Kara laughed, attempting to dodge the leaves. Unfortunately not all missed her and a few managed to lodge themselves into her hair. She reached for them, and tried to get them all out but one was being stubborn and refused to move. Kara sighed lightly before giving up and throwing the rest of the leaves at Silena, the one stray leave still resting in her hair. "That won't be a problem much longer!" She called, grabbing another handful and pelting her once more.
