A nextgen AU where Twilight Sparkle and Sunset Shimmer become the new Sun and Moon princesses of Equestria. They have two children named Nova Dawn and Dusk Eclipse and a ton of other friends in Equestria, the Crystal Empire, the Mirror World and beyond!

Surprise Pek and Rarity doodle because I missed drawing them

Closer to "chitinous" but I always pictured changeling skin being more like tough leather in parts (like the joints, neck and face) and harder shell carapace in other places (like the chest, legs, forehead, back)!

I think initially, my idea was for Chriki to be an actual Zecora/Chrysalis fankid. Partly born out of their alternate future where the two are enemies and partly for thinking their aesthetics would look really cool combined together. At some point very early on I scrapped that and instead made it an adoption story since that seemed more interesting to explore. Like why Chrysalis entrusted Zecora, of all people to care for her child is a fun topic. It was just lucky for me the canon ending for Chrysalis lined up with Chriki in my timeline. (Chriki would've been born after Chrysalis loses her hive but before the events with "Grogar" take place.)

and with the chaosborne spell it made it a fun mystery to try and figure out who Chriki's other parent actually is (They DO have one btw! It's a named character if that somehow narrows it down for you, I just won't be confirming any guesses.)

The base rule is that if the species appeared in the FiM show, comics, or books then it's canon in the AU and if there's weird continuity issues from that choice: BLAME IT ON DISCORD, HE DID IT.

I don't think I'm compelled to make any original species aside from any hybrid chaosborn- since that's the whole premise of the AU. However, I am more than willing to pull from past generations of MLP. Like Catrina and the Bushwoolies, who got hinted at as a past adventure, happened at some point between Sunset's coronation to now. Catrina and her lackey Rep are now an Abyssians, the same as Capper. With luck, Catrina may make a proper future appearance, though she doesn't have any big role to play.

For those not following my main account, I've been supporting myself solely on commission work and patreon for the past year or so. It's been tough though, and has cut into my time to work on this blog sadly. Last month or so had finally gotten my dog the surgery that she's been needing and this month I need to get a pretty big repair done on my car.

She will likely, yes. If only as a background appearance with the family. She still lives up in Manehattan.

Trenderhoof and Zephyr don't have much explanation but I knew I wanted Flutters to have a niece/nephew since I was set on her not having kids of her own. She's built for the Single Auntie lifestyle fr.

I didn't have too many options that stuck out. Treehugger was a potential but didnt quite click for me. Then I remembered Trenderhoof and thought it'd be kinda funny to pair up the two, if only for them both being rejected by Appledash. Truly both clueless boys. We love them for that.

With Zephyr's go-with-the-flow attitude, pairing him up with a trendy travel writer makes some sense to me. Maybe they met through their mutual heartache and found companionshipin each other. If you ask me, they met sometime during Twilight's coronation. Trender was covering the event and Zeph was attending with sister and parents.

Now for Marble and Autumn. I think at first, it was as simple as pairing up the quiet girl with the certified yapper. What sealed the deal for me was thinking up their kid, Mince Pie. I needed those funny pie names, damnit. And Mince double for Mince Words as well as Mince Pie. The rock farm also became a cute, safe place to raise a little kirin baby without risking wildfires.

Honestly though, one of my favorite rarepairs now. My favorite pairings aren't ones that are exactly similar or perfeclty synced, but rather ones that can challenge or change each other. I'd love to think that Autumn can really push Marble to speak her mind more while Marble is a very calming presence for Autumn in return, helping keep her temper in check. The two have to learn to meet each other in the middle to make it work and theyre both better off for it. Its sweet to me!

Sadly no, not many.

The way I built this AU, I would first decide what happens to a character in their future, whether they end up in a relationship or not and then only after that, I decide if they have kids or not.

Like Rarity for example, I hadn't planned any kids for her when I had initially made the blog. It was only after I gave her a diamond dog business partner that i even considered it. Upon making the family trees and seeing how empty Rarity's was (and knowing I wanted to keep Sweetie Bell single for reasons) I finally caved into making their pup Pepita for Pek and Rarity.

There are some pairings i had for consideration to include in the AU. Mostly some of my other favorite ships that I just couldn't fit into the narrative so they were "scrapped" in a sense.
