studying over breakfast this morning šš» what is your go to speedy breakfast?
hello,,, Iām back? can you believe?
Hello guys! Iām finally back after a more than 365-day hiatus. I had to take a well-needed break to give way to my mental and physical stresses. Iām okay now. Much happier and more motivated than I was back.Ā
You guys missed my first ever bullet journal I made for 2018. However, that was just a trial round. Iām still thinking about whether I should post some of my favoriteĀ spreads from that journal.Ā
Now, I would like to introduce to you guys my 2nd ever bullet journal for this year! Will post my january spreads soon!Ā
Letās catch up. Drop a message and Iāll gladly reply.
blog post 19th of february 2019
already (not) ready for march and the exam the month will bring
My self care box didnāt arrive, a little disappointing but hopefully tomorrow. Still, Iāve had a relaxing day taking a bubble bath, doing a facemask, watching suits + ordering takeaway Vietnamese food. Iām now doing some pre-reading and highlighting āļø

41/100 days of productivity.
Hiii! š»
Today has been a super busy day so far! I had one class this morning, then I rushed to work and I just finished my 4 hour shift. Now Iām getting changed for a gymsession with a friend and after that we are going to eat ice cream (sshš). So since I havenāt really been able to post today, I wanted to share the best brunch Iāve ever had with you. This was a brunch for two my mom and I ordered when we visited Leiden.
i am so sleepy wowow

How to study smarter:
So my (very cool) teacher was talking about this in class the other day, made me want to make a post about it.
The image above is adapted from the National Training Lab in Bethel, Maine. It basically shows how much information the average student retains when using certain methods.
Attending a lecture is only 5% and reading the material is only 10%.
Which could be a potential answer imo to why many people spend hours reading stuff and not retain most of it or not do well on tests.
Anything audiovisual increases the percentage of information youāll likely retain up to 20%, having it demonstrated in front of you gives you 30%. Discussion (which can be done very easily) can make you retain up to 50%, practicing with your own hands means youāll retain 75% and finally when you teach others youāll retain a massive 90%.
So how can you implement this into your study routine to retain the most information?
Audiovisual: I think this is very easy, YouTube channels like Khan Academy cover almost everything, so go online, find some videos relevant to whatever youāre studying and watch them.
Demonstration: This is pretty much your teacherās job, an example here would be anything related to social or hand skills, in my case interviewing and examining patients. At my school before we interview any patient or examine them my teacher does it first and we carefully observe. So whenever someone is demonstrating something pay full attention. And then if possible practice it (possibly with your friends as a role play) because thatāll increase the percentage of information you retained to 75%
Discussion: This is very basic and can be done simply by just reading the material before, preparing questions and engaging in brief discussions with your teacher throughout the lecture. Or if pre reading isnāt your thing just join a study group and discuss everything youāre learning over there.
Iāve already talked about practice briefly with demonstration, itās pretty self explanatory (especially for OSCEs, for all you medstudents)
Teaching others: You can volunteer to tutor anyone or just take the lead in your study group. All of my teachers swear by this method. Some even suggest explaining to yourself if you canāt find anyone else but I have never tried it. (or force your family/boyfriend or SO to listen, thatās what I do)
Get creative and make the most of your study sessions, if anyone tries any of these please let me know!!
how to self teach a new languageĀ
have contact with this language by hearing it on movies, tv shows and music. this will help you with your pronunciation skills and with your vocabulary
learn vocabulary and grammar at the same time
read kids books and translate what you donāt know. it might be hard at the beginning, but keep tryingĀ
speak to yourself will help you like crazy. I like to pretend that Iām acting or that someone is interviewingĀ me hahahĀ see the magic happensĀ
READ AND WRITE. this is as important as speaking. It used to be so hard for me to write in English and I felt awful because I could actually speak very well. But my writing skills were just a lower level than my speaking level. Thankfully itās getting better with practice.Ā
try to study a little everyday. if you donāt have time to do so, watch a movie or something, but have this contact with the new language at least once a day
be persistentĀ becauseĀ the processes of learning a new language can really piss you off. sometimes you will understand nothing and that will drag you down. the difference is to keep pushing untilĀ it doesnāt botherĀ you anymore!Ā

Hey everyone! How are you all? I hope your week has gone well so far.
Itās been a busy but good week for me as always. Iāve had 15 lectures, clinical skills session, placement, a pharmacology practical, work and BME advocate meetings. As always Iām behind but I try not to let that stress me out.
Today I want to get some lectures made into notes and review some content from my previous block. Iāve got a practical exam on Monday so Iām going to practice for that this weekend but-as itās just a practice run- Iām not going to spend too much time on it.
Anyway, here are a couple of pages from my anatomy lecture notes (yes Iām doing these three weeks late but Iāve done them now so itās all good š)
Also, if anyone has any good tips on keeping up with everything/organisation/studying med tips/exams etc , let me know! I love trying out new ways.
Much love as always,

Stop being so afraid to be confident. Thereās actually a lot of great things about you. Donāt deny those things, embrace them. Youāre beautiful and smart and kind and you need to stop punishing yourself for acknowledging it and trying to believe it.
you can bet ur ass im borderline failing physics, but on a high note they cancelled school tmrw ā
