Hot Goals Summer: Update #2
Its a new week, so time for another accountability check on my goals for the summer.

Everything had to take a bit of a backseat while I prepared for selling my work at Norwich Pride on Saturday, so I didn't spend as much time on my goals as I wanted to, but I'm okay with that. Pride was a really wonderful day.
Goals Progress:
Write for 15 mins every day I wrote on 3 days last week, totalling around 670 words for my Crowman Graphic Novel. Doesn't sound like much, but I've been doing a lot of editing, so wordcount gets a bit meaningless. A new scene has been added to Part One which I'm pleased with. I'll share some sentences below (:
Make Jester Accessories for Renfair I found this video by dorian gay on YouTube and now I need to make jester trousers!! Oops. Haven't started making yet, but I did finish off this waistcoat, complete with pocket and lining, which I wore to Pride. I'm really pleased with how it turned out and I’m obsessed with this fabric.
Finish A Comic Strip No progress on this thanks to market prep taking over my life, but looking forward to doing more on it this week.
Take a damn passport photo No movement on this. I have to go into town this week, so I may just accept I will hate my hair in the photo and go to a booth to just get it done. I have such a mental block around this and I haaaate it.
Now for a few (rough, unformatted) Crowman sentences:
When I was very small, I remember waking in the night and looking out of my bedroom window to see the far off forest of the Elderwilde glowing with etherial light. Child Cygnus (maybe 4 years old) scampers down the hall and into his sister's bedroom. It's dark, clearly night time. Avery is sleeping. "Avery, wake up!" "Wh-what is it?" Avery sits up, rubbing her eyes. "Cygnus you should be asleep." "The storm woke me up. And then I saw this— look!" Cygnus clambers onto Avery's bed and draws back the curtain. Through the window we see rain and the rooftops of Heartstone, but in the distance the centre of the Elderwilde forest is glowing, lighting up the sky like the Northern Lights. It reflects on the glass, the image projected over Cygnus' and Avery's faces. They both look on in wonder. Cyg: "It's so pretty. I thought it was lightning at first, but I've never seen it do this before." Avery responds automatically, still mesmerised by the colours. "It's ether… like in glowstones." "You mean fey magic?" Cygnus' eyes are round with awe. He presses his hands to the window. "Can we go there? Can we meet them?" "No!" Avery looks appalled. She becomes stern, frowning and looking down at her knees. "The forest isn't for people. It would kill you, just like father will if he catches you talking about the fey." She turns her frown on Cygnus. "But—" Cygnus looks crest-fallen. "You know we're not to talk about the forest or the evil that lives in there. It's disrespectful to mother's memory." It's clear that sentence is one she's repeating, likely drilled into her by their father (perhaps we see him in a small panel alongside Avery's face, so they are both saying the words). Avery closes her curtain with a sense of finality, then points to her door. "Go back to bed, Cygnus." "But—" "Now!" Avery pushes him out of the room and shuts her door, leaving Cygnus alone in the big empty hallway, lit only by the distant glow from the forest.
