I agree with this entirely, but it isn't THE reason. You also have to include the over sexualization of the gay community - both by the heterosexual community (Hollywood, social media, the news) saying all we are is sexual and not emotional, and by our own community through the constant reiteration of "monogamy is a lie" and ignoring/refusing to work through past sexual and emotional trauma. I fully support and believe in the "you do you" mentality, but our both communities are toxic to us when it comes to talking about actual dating.

You’re absolutely right. This is only one of the many reasons gay dating is difficult. And each of us finds certain obstacles harder than others, but all in all there are lots of reasons dating as a gay person is more difficult than dating as a straight person
