Patronus: Unicorn                                

Witches and wizards who have a Unicorn patronus are outgoing, energetic, smart, and unique. That’s the good news. The bad news is that they can also be self-centered, attention-starved, restless, and excessively eccentric.

Overall, Unicorns are kind of giving by nature and have the capacity to venture far beyond their peers to reach places that others would find impossible.  This is the greatest strength of the Unicorn.  Their adventurous nature refuses to see limitations.  They are always moving toward the next great idea and they almost always take the road less traveled to get there.  Their seemingly endless energy can be infectious, and when they take on a challenge, they are as passionate as ever… for a while.  While they truly care about the challenges they take up (and they do so often), Unicorns are quick to give up on something if they don’t see the end result fast enough for their liking.  That’s not to say that they don’t care, they just lose focus on one project and would prefer to spend their exceptional capabilities on something else for the moment.

Unicorns are simply different from the rest, but they have good intentions.  At best they use their energy to change the world.  At worst, they become self-obsessed and spin their wheels in all the wrong directions.  They never lack ideas, and are always on the move.  If the Unicorn can get focused on a single destination, there is practically nothing that can stop them from getting there. 

Patronus: Mole                               

Dependable, ambitious, and independent, those with a Mole as their patronus are also some of the most likely to care about how others perceive them. Of course, they will deny this, but one look at their purposefully constructed appearance will tell you otherwise. Often fitting in by “not fitting in”, those with a Mole as their patronus are often mired in unnecessary self-doubt.

Like their animal namesake, Moles don’t make a lot of sudden moves. Instead they cautiously calculate their strategies in life in order to avoid making unnecessary mistakes. They are strong and determined individuals who do their best work when focused on a goal. Like the animal they are far stronger than others realize and can be masterful architects of their own unique little world that few others ever even know exists.                          

What Moles struggle with most is an obsession with prudence. They want to make the right choice all of the time, but as is the case with life they don’t always know ahead of time what the right choice will be. If they don’t make a decision in a reasonable amount of time the choice will linger and fester like a wound, growing ever more difficult to deal with the more time passes. 

Several members of this sign will show signs of advanced intelligence from a young age, and this may cause them to accept the role of “intellectual” for longer than it suits them. However witches and wizards with a Mole patronus possess both intelligence and artistic qualities, and both can be extremely useful when approaching the kinds of challenges that Moles like to take on.

Patronus: Dolphin

A combination of inner intelligence and an energetic sense of playfulness, those who possess a Dolphin patronus are lovable, active, and adaptable. At their best, witches and wizards with this patronus are curious tinkerers by day and everyone’s favorite drinking buddy by night. At their worst, Dolphins allow themselves to become nervous, confused, and overwhelmed in their work and become obnoxious pranksters to their friends.

Balance is a difficult act for the Dolphin. They have all the potential in the world to be great when they are focused, but too often second-guess their own natural intelligence and their world ends up crashing down around them. Simultaneously, Dolphins that become too focused on work end up burned out and resentful, while those who become too focused on play end up acting out in immature ways. Thus is the life challenge of the Dolphin. Since they often have big ideas, their life goal is to reach their goals while balancing out any stresses with their fun, social side.

The good news is that Dolphins have lots of energy and are adaptable to changes around them. When they feel confident, there is little that they cannot achieve. As long as they stay interested, they can chase any dream. The only problem is that they have a hard time staying interested in one thing for too long. That’s why Dolphins often have many projects going at once. That way when they get bored with one they can move onto another.                          

Patronus: Blackbird

Those who are born with or develop the patronus of a Blackbird over their lifetime are idealistic, intelligent and thoughtful. They believe in their own abilities to do well, and to make change whilst refusing to conform to any standards that do not match their own. 

Blackbird patronus’ typically suggest that their witch or wizard is naturally independent and free of spirit. The bird is symbolic of life in the heavens (higher ideals, higher path of knowing) and the color black is symbolic of pure potential, simplicity and clarity. A witch or wizard with this patronus will know what they want and will generally achieve whatever their desire because of their strong will and passionate nature. 

Witches or wizards who possess this patronus tend to be quiet thinkers. They enjoying spending time alone to simply think or observe the world around them. This tendency makes them creative and curious individuals. They believe in themselves and don’t rely on anyone else to get by. However just because Blackbirds tend to be thinkers, doesn’t mean they don’t possess a high level of ambition and determination. Blackbirds generally want to do well and succeed in their chosen fields. 

Blackbirds tend to enjoy intellectual conversations that explore philosophical, psychological and theological ideas. They enjoy scientific concepts such as evolution and can be quite analytically minded. Those who possess the patronus of a Blackbird are also very perceptive. This quality allows them to adapt to their environments and establish new relationships quickly and efficiently.

Most people with this patronus will be great listeners and will find that many people will share their problems with them in search for sound advice. While those with a Blackbird patronus may be sympathetic listeners, they have very strong (and sometimes too idealistic) opinions about situations. They do not take kindly to people who simply ignore any given advice, generally because Blackbirds have spent quite a while thinking about the situation and examining in with a quiet patience.

Patronus: Aardvark

Independent, ambitious, and always on the move, those born with the patronus of an Aardvark (or develop it during their lifetime) believe that success comes before all other things. Though they are friendly and social, Aardvarks have a burning desire deep inside of themselves to survive and to conquer.

Witches and wizards who possess this patronus are very independent. They usually learn from an early age that the best way to get what they want is to earn it. While other patronus’ may dilute the strength of this work ethic, it is nonetheless inherent in the consciousness of every Aardvark. Driven in part by ambition and part by fear, those with this patronus yearn for financial stability, but at the same time are more comfortable taking risks than many of their peers.

Overall, this combination is typically a very good one. When balanced, the Aardvark becomes a sign of quick-witted ambition, drive with purpose, and an unstoppable work ethic. When unbalanced, though, Aardvarks can be workaholics driven by the fear of failure, or hermits who see the world as both a threat to their well-being and as an enemy to be conquered. Aardvarks do best when they can integrate themselves and their goals with their surroundings and succeed from inside the structured social environment.

Ultimately, Aardvarks are survivors first. Like their animal namesake, they don’t like to put parameters on their hunting grounds, preferring to go where the most opportunity is available at any given time. They aren’t the types to ever feel like their job is done and will claw and scratch their way to even the smallest advancements. Aardvarks don’t rely on luck to get by - they rely only on themselves.

It is perhaps because of this that Aardvarks are very opinionated. They simply cannot understand why everyone doesn’t work as hard as they do and have little sympathy for anyone who chooses pleasure over ambition. This is quite possibly the least attractive trait of those possessing this strong-willed patronus. While their nature is to be supportive and sympathetic to their family and friends, they secretly can’t stand it when people don’t take their advice. At the same time, others often look at the Aardvark and see someone who is stressed out, controlling, and conceited, which only makes them want to listen to their advice less.
