the idea that sebastian should/does serve a parental role for ciel is an obvious misreading of the story but i think what’s more egregious abt it to me is that it rests on the idea that ‘healing’ for trauma survivors automatically entails returning to the state you were in before going through the traumatizing experience and so ciel would be best served by returning to a version of himself who can rely on parental care. which is stupid
