"dysfonctionnelle" by axl cendres: very personnal fav in the sense that i heavily relate to the main character but still i would recommend it to anyone)

"juste une fois pour essayer" by élodie garnier: sorry i couldn't stand this one but mostly because i'm more of a "romance/queerness as part of the story" than a "romance/queerness being the whole story" person, also i think garnier wrote some more wlw romances if that's your kick

"bien sûr que les poissons ont froid" by fanny ruwet: still in the "didn't enjoy but someone else might" category, i LOVE goofy books but this one just didn't work for me (je me suis souvenu.e après avoir lu que j'étais déjà tombé.e sur un extrait de sketch de ruwet et purée son humour est vraiment pas le mien) + tbh the ending was underwhelming to me, some solid bisexual goofyness tho

I was posting about white watercolour paint on my instagram story and was struck by this and like. I’m not going to post about it on instagram but I unfortunately do think it’s really funny

#if you’re at all curious about my opinions on white watercolour paint #I think that using white to lighten your mix within the context of a painting is unnecessary #and often counterintuitive to the transparent nature of watercolour #if you want to lighten colours with white. you’ll probably have a better time using gouache #and I think white paint is a waste of money. especially if you’re first buying paint #but I think that pastel convenience colours with white in them are sometimes sooo beautiful and interesting #and I like single pigment paints from a flexibility and cost saving perspective #but I think being a single pigments only no convenience colours elitist is weird and lame #I’m sorry I’m pretty sure these notes are basically unintelligible

I have lived in a city. I live rurally. I love both. I hate suburbia and that in between place where people think they live rurally but they just live outside of public transit range. Still overcrowded but no way to get anywhere without getting in a car and being stuck in traffic.

#I have lived in a very dense part of a big city and in a very suburban part of a medium sized city #and like. living in the dense part of a city is the best thing that has ever happened to me #I think the denser parts of my medium sized hometown are actually also very nice. the suburbs are just painful in a lot of ways #although at least the suburb I will be moving back to at the end of the summer is extremely close to some really beautiful forest trails #so it’s not like I’ll be stranded with nothing but sidewalk and lawn and identical house #but I’m gonna be so far from anything at all that it’ll be painful and isolating in other ways #and I’m gonna dream of moving back to the city #despite the locational shortcomings of my parents house #my hometown has pretty good transit and great food options #and isn’t one of those places where there are so many white peoples that you’re looking around like. ‘where is everybody else?’#like guelph. guelph is a beautiful city. but you walk around sometimes and you’re like. why are there so many white people #where are all the other people who live here #also my hometown. the beautiful city of waterloo. has an lrt that works a significant amount of the time #and did not take a full decade to build

#okay so like. big caveat I went to art school and I paid for the full adobe suite as part of my tuition #I used acrobats’ pdf combiner and compressor all the time #acrobat’s like. built in signing tool is also very convenient I think #I also use indesign to automatically paginate booklets whenever I make a zine and acrobat will automatically distill a postscript file #and then open it into a pdf which is very convenient #oh also! if you want to print something really big and you only have a letter sized printer. acrobat will automatically cut it up #into pieces so you can print it on multiple sheets of paper #this is everything I have done with acrobat off the top of my head. idk if these are things you expect to do #I also use indesign for zine making! great! really convenient!#photoshop for colour correcting and removing dust from scans of my artwork #and illustrator for when I want to place things on paper/a canvas at a specific size/location #I can type into those little fields and say. I want this to be 3 inches. and it’ll resize it. and it’s great #and I don’t have to use the stupid ruler tool or do it by eye
