Basic Guide to Postcard Sizes
Standard postcard sizes are available to business mailing needs. Standard postcard size sheets are available in two different folding styles. The first folding style is called tri-fold. This type of postcard has three folds - one at the top, one below and one in the middle. This tri-fold postcard design is often used as an invoice postcard, which means that it is meant to be used as a bill payment form for services or goods bought.
The second folding style is called flat fold. This design is not quite as commonly seen as the tri-fold design but still has its place among standard postcard sizes. A flat fold design allows for easy handling and more precise calculations when making calculations on postage or sales tax. In addition, this type of postcard is very common in marketing literature and circulars. For example, you would find out a flat fold size employed in many mail marketing campaigns.
There are some standard postcard sizes that are also slightly larger than other sizes, such as letter size and Legal size postcards. Postcard dimensions can be broken down into two categories - letter width and letter height. These postcard widths allow retailers to send a standardized form of mailing to a variety of customers. Postcard Height is used to specify how thick or small a postcard can be. It is the thickness in inches, not the length, of the postcard.
