Posh & Fancy

Hi Everyone,

It's been over a year since I posted last. My dad got very sick around the time that I stopped posting last year, so I lost a lot of inspiration to write, and just generally love anything. He sadly passed away nearly three months ago now from cancer. It has been the hardest few months I have had to endure ever in my life so far.

I believe that you can only really truly understand the pain that you have to feel all the time if you have been through something similar yourself.  I not only had to say goodbye to my dad, I had to say goodbye to my best friend too. I used to talk to him every day, even for a brief moment and I think that's what I miss the most. Every day there are things that I want to tell him, but I can't. He used to love seeing all the new clothes that I bought and try and guess how little I spent on them, always finding so much mirth in how little I paid. 

He was the best father anyone could have asked for, generous, loving beyond comprehension, understanding and so very very funny. His laughter is what got him (and us) through 15 years of cancer. Always remaining so positive no matter what happened. No matter how many hospital stay, new treatments, millions of tablets and bad news he remained steadfast in his zeal for life, trying never to let it get him down. He is the biggest inspiration in my life and I am so lucky to have had him as my father.

You have to try and take silver linings from everything that happens in life, no matter what, mine are my amazing family, boyfriend and friends. Everyone who has lifted me up through this time, I love you and appreciate every word and action that you have said and done, I 100% could not have gotten through the last while without your unfaltering love and support.

I have already spoken so much about my amazingly beautiful and talented friend Kitty Moss and the work that she has produced, a taste of which you can see on her web site: http://kittymoss.com/.

She is embarking on a voyage of heartfelt artistry this time around, with a project called Lady Moon (images below this post). Kitty has been busy (always so busy) with many different projects and I think this one has to be my favourite. Not just because it's for the best cause ever, but because it's just so beautiful. 

Kitty is creating a "darkly romantic" installation for the cancer ward in Crumlin Children's Hospital in Dublin. It's based on a story that Kitty wrote about a character called Lady Moon. She stays true to her spooky roots yet still morphing in to something wonderful and enchanting, I can only imagine how much the children are going to love it. It's making me itch in anticipation for the finished piece. 

Images below from the fabulous Antonio Lopez. A fashion illustrator that had his work published in Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Elle and The New York Times. He discovered Jessica Lange and Jerry Hall and worked in Paris with Karl Lagerfeld. Such an interesting life story, the amount of names dropped in his biography would make your head spin!

Some of my favourite pieces below from Ulyana Sergeenko's Fall 2013 couture collection. 

The inspiration for this collection was priests vestments and Orthodox architecture, which you can both see in the austerity of some pieces and the greys and charcoals of others. I love the tears on the faces of the models it adds so much to the sombre mood of it all.

Haaaaaaay!

Long time no see gaylords! Hope you're all great and enjoying this shitty weather we're having #movingtoibiza, at least it's warm-ish. It's been aaaaages since I posted last, lots and lots of water under my bridge (oooh er), pretty crappy year thus far, the details of which I won't bore you with but as Homer Simpson once said "we must move forward not backward, upward not forward and always twirling TWIRLING towards victory!".

Today friends I am wearing my very understated leopard print harem-style pants. Now usually I think harem pants look like a massive nappy on me but these ones seem to be tailored enough for me not to look ten tones in. my gorgeous, amazing booties are from ASOS and cost me the princely sum of €29 and they're suede, oh yes. My necklace I bought at a 'Vintage' market, it's from Topshop, the cunning old biddy bamboozled me! Love it anyway. 

It's good to be back, might be a while before you see me again though so savour this one ;). 

Absolutely umbo feast me and my bestie Ailbhe made last week which included:

- Roasted goats cheese stuffed mini sweet peppers

- Melted Roquefort and pear on crusty bread

- selection of cured meats

- Baked Camembert

- Walnuts, mini plum tomatoes, rocket, beetroot

- Moroccan Hummus

- Onion Marmalade

- LOADS OF RED WINE

Mind = BLOWN

My gorgeous friend Kitty Moss (aka Lyn Allen) had her first Maud and Minet exhibit a month or so ago in the Little Green Street Gallery. A massive flurry of chiffon flowers, beads, lace, leather and stress ensued but it all came together brilliantly. The turn out was astounding but not surprising considering the work involved and the buzz surrounding Miss Moss from previous articles, and of course word of mouth, this little kitty is not one to miss!

Her collection comprises beautifully thought out dresses, skirts, blouses, and jackets made from elegant materials sourced and hand picked by Moss herself. These garments tie beautifully in with her illustrations of the etherial Maud and her specter kitty, Minet. I've posted some of her amazing illustrations before and am lucky enough to have a couple hanging in my front room.

I really was so proud of everything that she had achieved for this exhibition. She worked her fingers to the bone and it really paid off as I'm sure you can hopefully see from my (badly taken) photos. Watch out for this little Kitty, she's going to take over the world!
