She couldn’t help but chuckle a little at the Porygon’s joy being given food. 

“Play…?” Avery repeated, putting her attention at the button it was pointing at. She could safely assume it was a small minigame like…a guessing game or something. 

“O-Okay!” the child exclaims, happily pressing the play button on the device.

Ah..! The child pressed the play button! It tried not to shake the device too much out of excitement, but that means... it would finally be able to roam in a free space!

While Porygon couldn’t be seen, it did control the device, pointing to an icon of a Pokeball on the screen! “T H I S! P L A Y!” It flashed the arrow at the icon, awaiting for the child to press it.

That space-time vortex really did a number for Poly-Pory. Left it all dizzy, and in an unknown place... and seemingly a different time era as well? It was only able to project itself from out of its shell to take a look at its surroundings... how weird, everything looks so... old, dusty...

Was it even in the modern days anymore?

Pokemon weren’t even hiding in the grass, they were fully out in the fields... and most of them seemed to be... violent. Errrmmm.. weird. Normally it would make beeping noises to alert someone of its presence, but only doing that would alert the other Pokemon around it.

So it only waited... and waited...

“Oh?”

[ Did it just give him a command? Most tamagotchis would wait for the owner’s input but– maybe this one is an one of a kind! Totally forgetting what he was going to do, Colress sits on the floor and presses the button it was pointing at, now eager to know what would happen next. ]

“Alrighty, then! Let’s play! What kind of games do you got?”

While not on screen itself, Porygon could still flash arrows and show what it needed! That being said, it flashed an arrow to an icon of a Pokeball on screen! That would allow it to be free of its cramped little shell.

Wait- did it just respond to her? She blinked. Maybe it was an advanced one that heard your voice or something? She hasn’t kept up on the advancing technology when it comes to virtual pets.

Maybe an actual Porygon was in it? Probably…

What mattered is that she’s always wanted one of these when she was younger, so she felt a bit of excitement finally getting to hold one in her hands. Getting to take care of the polygonal virtual Pokemon like it was a member of her team. A small little smile appeared on her features, happily pressing the button that gave the Porygon food.

“Th-There you go!”

“T-H... T H A NK  YOU!” The Porygon exclaimed! It danced around its little shell as soon as the human fed it! Ohhh sweet food, how it missed it! But it was getting a little cramped inside, and it shook around the screen a bit before pointing an arrow to a different button! 

Even with the ear muffs, her hearing is still very much impressive. So much so that the blaring beeping noises from a distance are actually bothering her. She stood there, trying to identify where the noise was coming from. It’s definitely somewhere above ground, in the trees maybe? Being too focused on her little search, she ended up having her face be hit by the very thing she was looking for,

“Ah-!”

gathering herself from the little scare, she looks to see that it’s one of those virtual pets that she was always interested in, a pink and blue one at that. She looks around to see if anyone is around, perhaps looking for it? It didn’t seem like it…

Humming curiously. she picked it off the branch it was hanging on, upon further inspection there appeared to be a Porygon on the screen. Oh! She’s familiar with those! Never thought of raising one, but she’s knows a lot about them. Using her sleeve to rub off whatever dirt scuffs are on it, she thinks out loud.

“D-Did somebody lose you..?” It was either that the person who lost it is currently worried sick, or worst case scenario they didn’t care much about it. Either way there was concern for the little guy, even if it was merely a virtual pet.

What a relief! Someone to the rescue... but it was about time! It was hanging on that branch way too long for comfort, but knowing that it was in the hands of someone safe made it feel much, much better.

Upon being held, Poly-Pory made a few cheerful chirps. Oh to be handled by someone again, and not by a wild Pokemon! 

“O W! O W! O W W W W!!! >_<”

After a flight and a half due to a mischievous little Murkrow that had stolen and dropped it, Porygon’s shell hit a few branches before thankfully being saved by a stray branch and its chain.

“By golly! It’s that rare kind that speaks! Today is my lucky day!” ♫

[ Colress felt a childish rush as he examined it all over, pressing the buttons on the front to see if they did something. ]

“Help? Must be time to eat, or clean up! Let’s give it a try….”

Ahhh... that felt better. Being fed, being cleaned up!! It was nice to have that sort of attention again! However... it wasn’t satisfied enough just yet! Perhaps it could do one more thing to show that it wasn’t ‘just a toy.’

Oooo! Somebody happened to pick it up! Cheer! Joy! The toy let out a few more little beeping sounds before assumedly turning to face the new person who happened to pick it up... Time to be dramatic.

The good old days, were they ever all that great? 0_0
