My favourite youtuber geeking out over Adele.
Me geeking out over the colourful Lennon poster subtly perfecting that already amazing decor.
How did I not know this man and his channel yet.
Because @sherlock-is-ace suggested it in this post and it won't let me reblog with a video.
You're welcome, everyone.
Eurythmics photographed by Fryderyk Gabowicz, 1983.
They were just inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame and during the montage of all their songs and videos, I was reminded how powerful “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” is. Put on your best earphones, because the synth is wicked and timeless.

my mum knew i was sad so she went out and when she came back inside she called me up to her room and showed me this
Can someone please explain to me what evaporated milk is? Wouldn’t that just be gas by definition? I live in constant fear
no no it’s what left behind after the milk has been evaporated cuz only the water goes, not the other stuff
THERE’S WATER IN MILK?
WHAT DID YOU THINK THE LIQUID WAS?
IDK ISNT MILK ITS OWN LIQUID?
NO
IT’S MILK-STUFF MIXED WITH WATER
MILK STUFF? DOESNT IT JUST COME FROM THE COW’S TIT?
ITS LIKE TIT JUICE, THERE IS WATER IN JUICE AND THERE IS WATER IN MILK
It’s fat droplets suspended in water, with some nutrients and soforth dissolved in it. You know, like ranch dressing.
Evaporated milk is just dehydrated milk.
Obsessed with the user who assumed milk was its own element on the periodic table
As op I felt like I had to make this
Milk, the forbidden 119th element
the only question left is if it’s a metal, non-metal, or metalloid.
OP seems to have classified it as a special case of halfnium, reclassified as a lanthanide. This has fascinating implications for electron orbital geometry.
Anyway it’s a rare earth metal apparently.
Yes I definitely classified it intentionally and knew exactly what I was doing when I put it with the lanthanides because I am never wrong
MILK IS A RARE EARTH METAL
I thought so, I took one look at your classification and immediately thought “this is definitely someone with a deep understanding of how the periodic table works”
I’m glad that we have reached a consensus on the expected elemental properties of milk
I’d really like to know what @derinthescarletpescatarian’s thoughts are on milk’s electron orbital geometry
That would involve writing a crash course in how suborbitals work on a post about whether water (the primary ingredient in milk) is in milk and even for tumblr that’s going a bit far
no, it is absolutely not going too far
You guys always complain that you don’t get to learn stuff in normal ways and then you come asking for this
MILK IS SEVERAL COMPOUNDS PLEASE YALL ARE KILLING ME OVER HERE
We have a container of dry milk because in addition to a little fat and sugars, it contains proteins, which settle into the pores of nitrocellulose membranes, making sure analytical proteins (specific antibodies) don’t get trapped. We could just use casein (one of the proteins in milk), but milk is much cheaper and can also be found at Walmart.
No milk is a lanthanide keep up
lanthanide?
I think you mean lactanide
I will put lego in all of your shoes
A cube of milk with 3 inches of edge length can blow up the galaxy.
Our galaxy is actually the result of such an explosion, that’s why we call it the Milky Way
this is a unique sort of thread in which you’ll find two types of people exclusively: nerds and dumbasses
Enter OCEAN EYES and NOT DEAD YET, two of the king’s most quarrelsome stablehands.
OCEAN May one explain what powdered milk doth be? Is it not gas? I live in constant fear.
NOT DEAD The water flees to air, the rest is left. The dry debris then forms the powdered milk.
OCEAN Thou sayest water doth reside in milk?
NOT DEAD Pray tell what thou believ’st the liquid is?
OCEAN Is milk not one pure substance in itself?
NOT DEAD No; ‘tis only milk-stuff mixed with water.
OCEAN Yet milk appears from living cows’ own tits!
NOT DEAD ‘Tis juice from tits, yet water still it holds. If water be in juice, then ‘tis in milk.
Enter DERIN, the scarlet pescatarian.
DERIN ‘Tis drops of fat afloat in water, As if ‘twas dressing for thy greens. With water gone, the powdered milk remains.
A NOTE attached to an arrow, written by BURNING BRAND, flies through the window.
BURNING BRAND’S NOTE Obsessed with he who foolishly believ’d That milk is element of chemistry.
The NOTE crumbles to ash. BURNING BRAND is not seen again.
OCEAN As he who instigated such a fight, I felt that this creation was my duty.
OCEAN unrolls a scroll of parchment with a flourish.
OCEAN Behold, ‘tis milk, one hundred and nineteen.
Enter JASON FUNDER BERKER, a frog.
JASON FUNDER BERKER And yet the burning question still remains: ‘Tis metal, not, or somewhere in between?
JASON FUNDER BERKER does not wait to hear the answer, and exits.
DERIN A lanthinide! A special case, I see. How fascinating, geometrically. But let us leave atomic musings be. For milk is a rare metal of our Earth.
OCEAN Of course it is, for I am always right. My choices are, of course, deliberate.
DERIN I do not doubt thou speakest truth, my lord Thy brilliant mind is utterly unmatch’d. It seems that an agreement has been reach’d.
OCEAN Of course; however, in sincerity I wish to know thy scholar-driven thoughts.
DERIN I fear ‘twould be beyond thy comprehension. To teach to thee would take this much too far.
Exit OCEAN, in a huff. Enter JESIN, BOOP BOOP, FLIPOCRITE, VELVET, and LOVELY DREAMS, curious onlookers attracted to the scene.
JESIN Do teach us, it would not take this too far!
DERIN Ye all complain of learning strangely, Then ask me baiting questions such as this!
BOOP BOOP Thy gross ineptitude shall be my death! Milk is formed of small component parts. The fat, the sugars, proteins all combine They seep through pores of membranes in this drink Unpleasant compounds all are filter’d out. All this obtained for small amounts of coin.
DERIN No, milk is lanthanide, pray keep the pace.
FLIPOCRITE The word thou mean’st is lactanide, I think.
DERIN May sharpened pain-shaped stones fill up thy shoes So that thou never know’st a moment’s peace.
VELVET A cube of milk, three inches on each side Could blow up the entire galaxy.
DERIN Our galaxy was formed in such a fashion. ‘Tis why we gave it name of “Milky Way.”
LOVELY DREAMS Thus ends our entertainment for the night Here fools and pompous scholars come to fight.
Exuent, pursued by a cow.

Gibbs & Jack
First and last episode comparison
“Skeleton Crew” (15x04) and “True Believer” (18x08)
I figured I’d put my thoughts in a reblog so I don’t crowd my original post with it. I’ve been on a Slibbs kick today, it’s good at sucking me right back in. The difference between these two in their first and last episode is so great. They build a deep bond with each other in the series. Even just their progression within the first few episodes they have together in season 15 is crazy. He goes from being hesitant and a bit insulted, to just casually going to her office all the time to grab a lollipop, talk, or even watch her while she works (like when Reeves walks in her office and Gibbs is just chilling there hanging out). He gives her “permission to board the ship” and give her opinion without throwing a fuss or getting angry. They chill in his basement and have beer and steak, or are always watching interrogation together. One could argue they were sleeping together close from the start, because they are always around each other and seem comfortable. By the end of season 15 she is the one person he’s opened up to in person about the man he killed to avenge his family.
Now, we all know they pretty much destroyed all that progression made in season 15 by making them super hot and cold nonstop throughout all of season 16 and season 17. Every step forward was two step backs. It was a long and frustrating cycle. Almost as if they were a secret item in season 15, but then backed off and decided to “just be friends” or something, because it was always either super charged or super distant. The show was able to somewhat redeem all of that in the last Slibbs episode by putting a huge focus on them and at least giving us a kiss. But dang, it did not end the way it should have, and we all know it. They should have retired together to a place they both felt safe and didn’t have any past trauma with. They shouldn’t have both ended up alone.

The last chapter! Thanks to all who not only came along for the ride, but supported it along the way. :)
Three Dutch and Belgian music heroes gone in as many days :/, Hennie, Arno, and Jan.
Two left out of the three in the clip above. I'm not ready for that to change. I'm not typically one to pause for long when people come and go naturally in this world, but Hennie's (on base in the middle) passing got to me. Damn these concerts were amazing.
I hope to encounter more legends like these guys, but I might be waiting a while. Is it the evolution of the same songs over 5 decades (longer than I've been alive!)? The unsurpassable level of experience on stage? A specific sound? The amount of fun they're obviously having? I'm not sure it can be labelled.
I crossed the country, and the next one (luckily they're small) countless times to see them, and a few others. I was young, and got older, but I'd found something I loved so I kept going. I queued for front row spots, I stood in the mud when predictably it rained just the night of the festival, and I accepted even the worst partial view seats just to get in. I made friends, I took up photography, I had fun, and I saw places I'd never otherwise have travelled to. I wrote large chunks of my very dry and serious thesis manuscript on the move, think theatre bars and coffee shops, with course and research notes in my backpack, and more than once scared my supervising post-doc with the number of concert night in my calendar. I enjoyed temporarily forgetting the rest of the world when getting absorbed in one of these concerts, and I couldn't believe my ears on multiple occasions. I was around often enough to witness several magical one off moments.
I've moved countries, so I now need to cross three to get to the same places, and the options to make it to a similar concert have become fewer, both from my side and from theirs. Home will always be home, and I'll keep looking for music that gets to me like this, but I'll miss the wild and easy years.
Live music is a powerful thing, go out there and find a version of it you enjoy, you'll know what I mean when you find it. I will again, too, but I might be quieter for a while, first.

Omega Swatch Moonwatch Series
Oooooh! Now this is interesting. Omega and Swatch have teamed up to make replicas of Omega’s classic Speedmaster Moonwatch, and they’ve come up with a version for every planet. Can’t afford the $5000-10,000 Omega price tag? How about $260? That’s if you can find them, of course. They went on sale March 26th at select Swatch stores and immediately sold out. BUT, Swatch has said they will be available to purchase online.
More info here: Omega/Swatch Moonwatch Series
Which one’s your favourite? (I’m torn between the classic Moon replica and the Mars one. Maybe the Saturn one. Pluto looks like the Michael Schumacher edition one. Hmmmm. So many choices!)
Sun
Mercury
Venus
Earth
Moon
Mars
Jupiter
Saturn
Uranus
Pluto
What do you think?
For those who flinch at the Omega prices! $260!!
Oh yes! And I have a birthday coming up too. I've been trying to decide which one I prefer since Thursday. Since I can't make it to a store location till April 1st though, it sounds like I'll have more time to think about it while we wait for new stock.
I'm torn between Mars or Earth (but my primary watch is already dominantly blue...), or the more neutral muted brown Jupiter/Saturn. Colour differences aside, a few have really neat dial features too. It's so hard to choose!
I love the Moon and Mercury models, but they remind so much of the classic original that I think I'd be longing for an actual Moonwatch every time I looked at them.
Definitely a brilliant collaboration!
Have I mentioned lately just how much I miss these two?
One year today since she left. RIP

Oh how they play off of one another. I'd struggle to name more than a couple dynamics I've loved as much as this since this film came out. Guess that calls for another rewatch. I definitely struggled with Daniel Craig when we first got Casino Royale, but boy did he change my mind over the years.
she made him so smiley
he liked her :(
she liked him
WHY why must they be alone and sad or stoic or whatever instead of :D and together
did it really have to be this way??
