But the day before it, she died, so instead of reflecting her beauty, it reflected the ugliness of his pain and sorrow. […] -He was so devastated, he decided his kingdom should share his pain. So he spent years harnessing dark magic, used it on the mirror, and cast a spell over his entire kingdom. It made his subjects see only the worst in the ones they loved.  And they turned on each other, destroying themselves.

-What does that story have to do with anything? -You were in my room. I’m sure you saw the mirror. This is just a small piece of it.

Even after everything, there were still times where Elsa felt she needed to be alone. For Anna’s safety. And now for her fiancee, Kristoff. For Arendelle’s safety. Control over her power was still a daily struggle, even with her sister around to comfort her. 

Today was no exception. Just a moment- she wished. Just one moment where she didn’t have to fear losing control. She knew of a quiet place, far from anyone and anything but before she could descend to it, the woods snapped behind her. Someone had followed her. 

She had heard stories about fairies who used particular elements for their spells depending on where they were born, but since the ones from the Enchanted Forest used all sorts of magic she had thought them to be only tales. “Are you a snow fairy?” 

It was quickly clear that this young woman wasn't of Arendelle. True, Elsa had spent most of her life in her room but she knew her people. This woman's clothes were unfamiliar. And she had no idea who she was. Lost. From where?

On top of that, she wasn't afraid at all of what she had seen. Magic seemed to be something that was enjoyed, not feared, in her eyes. Elsa let out a tiny breath of relief, though she kept her caution and wits about her. "Yes. Ice. You - .... you like it?"

Elsa’s expression during this scene changes rather drastically! Here’s some of my notes:

1st: After telling the thugs to stay away and shooting the ice at them, she clearly shows that she meant no harm, also an “oh crap, no” look

2nd: The point where she starts attempting to defend herself, but she still has that hurt look. It’s kinda hard to see on this gif and in general, but a slightly better view can be found here

3rd: Definitely in defensive/attack mode. See how her face changes from surprise at being cornered to fierceness.

4th: Still attack mode, her eyebrows very slowly narrow as her anger increases.

5th: Extremely focused, pissed look, until Hans calls her out.
