The Pond Water Witch

Bowls of cherries and pear trees in the summer. Bumblebees on honeysuckle bushes and fresh hot coffee. The wind running its fingers through the trees. Sunlight warms our strawberry patches. The mornings aren't quiet. There are robins picking twigs from the long grass and songbirds hiding in the branches. The hills are still wet with dew. Our neighbors' cows moo 'good morning towards our windows. I roll over in bed to see you and find you already awake, already smiling. These days, I never wonder if you love me. I can see it so clearly on your face.
