What does your ideal snirius fic look like? Just a list of tropes and maybe instances and character moments that it would include lol
hmmmm... apart from tropes, there are a few criteria that absolutely have to be met.
> characters should match their book personalities as closely as possible, [they shouldn't create cognitive dissonance at the very least]
> if there’s any kind of narrative branch, it has to make sense and not feel forced or stitched together with duct tape
> if there are changes to the mechanics of the world, they need to be heavily justified, like really heavily ~~ not ''Harry became an animagus in one night because he was a prodigy''
[in my head it works kind of like DND. you imagine a world with certain rules and worldbuilding, and you play within those rules. that's the purpose of the game]
> Sirius falls first.
> they genuinely, completely hate each other during their school years. [you can read it, at least partly, as internalized homophobia on sirius black’s side]
in general, i prefer the events before 1993 to stay pretty much the same.

> i love the version of sirius slowly going insane in 12 Grimmauld Place from isolation, boredom, from himself, and from the need to stay alone with his own thoughts.
> SIRIUS DOESN'T FALL INTO THE VEIL. i hate the fact that he dies, because if a fic makes any kind of deviation from canon, then it’s a damn butterfly effect that should logically lead to him not dying. his death hinges on such an unlikely chain of events that, realistically, almost anything could have prevented it.

> Harry, during the Occlumency lesson, seeing a memory of Sirius kissing Snape is a funny one
> the Horcrux hunt, except through a chain of circumstances it isn’t the Golden Trio but Sirius, Severus, and Harry.
meanwhile, Snape still remains a double agent and continues to serve as Headmaster.

Reg, who had been in contact with Snape because of Potions tutoring [ i still believes that this boy never actually finished the school ]
because of that, he’d sent Krecher to Snape a few times, so Kreacher knew where he lived.
so when Regulus tells him, “Go home, and don’t tell anyone in the family,” Kreacher simply Apparates to Snape’s house and starts babbling about Master and the Dark Lord.
Snape hears “the Dark Lord”, assumes Voldemort is involved and that, whatever this is, it concerns him directly, because not showing up is rather bad for one’s life expectancy.
so he Apparates to the cave, finds Regulus there, and drags the boy out of the Inferi’s grasp and brings him to his own house.
Regulus wakes up, and Severus realises that something is very, very wrong and that, thanks to this idiot, he is now in enormous trouble.
and by the end of it, his main objective becomes finding a way to dump Regulus back on his brother.
> everyone grieves for Sirius at the end of OotP /Severus not that much/ ~~ there may be some difference in the exact circumstances that lead to his death
[keeping in mind that this was Lucius’s plan, and that Snape was deliberately not let in on it]
then, after some time has passed, Bella says something like, “I seem to recall my cousin used to give you a hard time back then.”
and she simply leads him down to the cellar, where a very much alive Sirius is being kept prisoner.
