My nephrologist has seen enough improvement in my kidney function, lately, to believe someone my age (early 30s) might have a longer life WITH PROPER AND FREQUENT MEDICAL ATTENTION. Sadly, that just isn’t an option where I live.

Reblogging because dialysis isn’t cheap; I don’t know how Medicaid varies state-to-state, but Medicare has a quarterly cost as well as a 20% copay. Working while on dialysis isn’t easy. Heart failure sucks. So does anemia and feeling nauseated all the time and having to take a ton of super-expensive medication just to keep everything from falling apart again.
I’ve got about four-six hours of energy a day. I’m learning to do peritoneal dialysis at home (which is still exhausting, but not as bad as hemodialysis at a clinic) and working temp jobs because I’d likely lose a real job in a week because of how little I can actually work.

Just updating. Most immediate medical Bill’s are covered. The debt is too huge to ask for more help with. I’ve gotten charities to help me chip away at it just enough to keep being able to see any specialists that I owe.

One of my favorite thing I’ve learned about animals studies is that you should avoid using colorful leg bands when you’re banding birds because you can accidentally completely skew the data because female birds prefer males with colorful bands
Apparently if you put a red band on a male red wing blackbird his harem size can double
So like you can completely frick up the natural reproduction of a group of birds by giving a guy a bracelet so stylish that females CANNOT resist him
