Ok guys, at my school we have this thing called CGSSSA Dance, and there is a categories for each type of dance. So thereās; Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Ballet, etc. One of those categories is called Folk. This category includes any cultural dance as long as the dancers are from that background. I entered this category last year along with a few of my friends from year 9-12. This year our school is entering this category again. I found out that 2 yr 11ās were controlling whoās going to be included in this dance. Pretty much all the islanders in my year were offered to participate in this dance apart from my friend, Hope who is Samoan and Me. Ok so donāt get me wrong, Iām not ranting because I wasnāt invited to do this dance, itās just I found out the reason why they didnāt offer it to me. I found out that the 2 year 11ās decided not to offer it to my friend because she causes ātoo much dramaā. when in reality itās them that causes the drama and the reason they didnāt offer me is because Iām āJust Asianā As you can tell, because of my last rant I hate it when people donāt acknowledge my other half and to find out I'm ātoo Asianā to participate in something I love to do is actually really depressing. Sometimes I wish I could just be full Asian or full Rotuman so people wouldnāt base me on my looks. You might think this is something really stupid to be going on about, but I just want the racism and discrimination to stop. So I just want to put it out there that, there is nothing wrong with being half and thereās nothing wrong with doing what you love. Never let anyone stop you from doing what youāre passionate about and donāt ever be afraid to stand up for yourself. #RacistToMyPassion
