POLYGYNY PRIDE

Mothers outnumbered fathers throughout much of human history, a new DNA analysis of people around the world shows. The genetic findings offer evidence for polygyny, when one man has many wives, and other reproductive customs, as people migrated out of Africa.

I made a graphic showing how the different types of nonmonogamous relationships all fit together. Hopefully this can clear some stuff up for people! Some of these definitions may vary, but I made this based off of pretty common definitions. Feel free to use this wherever you want, all I ask is that you leave my name on it.

Another ask from another anon - what’s the difference between polyamory, polyandry, polygamy and polygyny. 

Polyamory

This is commonly referred to as poly; it is ethical/consensual/responsible non-monogomy. It’s “complicated” tends to be an understatement since you can have as many partners as you can love, and your partner’s partner’s partner’s can have as many partners as they can love. It’s a never ending web of awesome. 

Polyandry

This is where one woman has two more husbands. 

Polygamy

This is where you have more than one wife or husband at the same time.

Polygyny

This is where one man has two or more wives.
