Learning the Chain Letter of Positivity!
Who knew that Tumblr had such fantastic blogs about studying? I could have saved my friends and family so much “TMI,” by using Tumblr versus Facebook for my study group hubs.
That is the element that we all forget when it comes to teaching and learning. There is so much social gamification that creates efficacy in instruction. Better put, when you have a support ‘study’ group, you are motivated to study. It becomes who you at your essence. You eat, sleep, and breathe school.
I take studying very seriously. For most of my life, I have been a student in various capacities. As a Physician Assistant Studies Student, with my daughter right alongside, I used a skeleton from Halloween to learn the bones of the body.
After I shared this with a friend, @NicoleMoon, she capitalized on this and added rubber bands and string to the contraption, INGENIOUS!!
You never know how your idea will spur someone else to meet and exceed their own personal preferences and learning goals. That is the utterly, beautiful part of both learning and teaching. The magic comes when you create meaning.
This camaraderie is also the part I miss the most from teaching. Truly secure teachers will throw open their doors and file cabinets and share their ideas like no body's business all in the contagious love of teaching students and staff. My professor back in the day, Dr. Judy Herr, always said that teachers were wonderful little thieves. It is so true! The eclectic style of both teaching and learning is priceless.
Here is a challenge, when someone shares an idea, share it with everyone you know! You never know if your idea is the one that will empower them past their own learning challenges.
Authentic learning comes from owning your preferences. When someone has an idea, add a pinch of another, a dash of a third, then your own zest of awesomeness, and voila you just created one learning tool for your proverbial tool box.
