This week is apparently rabies week because four baby goats at a petting zoo in North Carolina just tested positive for the virus and now they have to do contact tracing and try to find everyone at the public event who could have interacted with them.

heads up to anyone diagnosed with "gender dysphoria" or referred by the welsh gender service for top surgery - apparently as of this morning all the manchester hospitals they have been banned from doing any part of the top surgery process by the Gender Dysphoria National Referral for Surgery Service (GDNRSS) effective IMMEDIATELY. will was due for top surgery at 7am tomorrow, we were contacted two hours ago. they've cancelled it. we both have medical leave and accommodation booked and are actively on the 4.5 hour train ready for the surgery when we got the call from the surgeon. we're absolutely heartbroken. the surgeon said they had no idea this was happening either until literally this morning. apparently it's a "pause" pending investigation into the welsh gender service but either way will's surgery has still been cancelled less than 24 hours in advance with no timeline at all of when it might actually be possible to get it. ive been crying on this train full of people for the last hour i cant believe this is happening it's like a nightmare. if you or anyone you know are under the welsh gender service waiting for gender affirming surgery (there is NOWHERE that does gender affirming surgery in wales btw. they've just "paused" all top surgery for everyone in wales under the nhs) please get in contact to check how it'll affect you as well

seeing other people saying the same thing now it seems to be ALL HOSPITALS for ALL types of gender affirming surgery. just a unilateral stop for gender affirming surgery for anyone referred through the welsh gender service with absolutely no idea when it'll resume or what new criteria might be. they banned gender affirming surgeries for welsh people specifically. this is absolutely bonkers.
