Henry couldn’t help but laugh. “And you  might be the only person here that would  call me smart, but thanks.” He didn’t get many compliments like that. He’d chalk it  up to not caring as much about sex scandals  as most people seemed to.

She did have a point though, it was pretty  messed up people were ready to demonize  her but didn’t say anything against the guys.  He was a guy and he could see that was bullshit.

“It’s a fucked up double standard,” he agreed.  “I guess people don’t really seem to get the fact  that the guys were doing the same thing, probably  easier to have some sort of ‘temptress’ or whatever  to blame. I dunno, we agreed people can be idiots.  Still not anybody’s business really.”

“you’re welcome. ” and if fewer people cared about sex scandals then...    well, olive would never have been in this position at all. nor would she have had to lie about having sex in the first place. christ, maybe it would have been easier to go away with rhi and her parents after all - it was only after that, that things started to go so crazy.

olive shrugged and nodded in agreement. “ yeah, it does kinda suck. being no more than who i have sex with - - if i’m honest, it was fine at the beginning, but now it’s just -” frowning, olive gave a sigh, “dude, it’s so shitty.” 

    “ wouldn’t call it SHORTER, but some        people do call me mercutio. “

Kurt eyed her closer and closer the longer they talked. Partly out of suspicion on what she was going to ask him for and partly because he knew her from somewhere When the light switch flipped on and recognition hit? He straightened up in his chair and gave her a smile that wasn’t forced. “You’re the A girl,” he breathed out with an arch to his brow and a bubbling bounce in his seat.  “I have to say that I admired your technique.  Hawthorne has nothing on you.”  Humming thoughtfully, he mulled the idea over and leaned back in his chair with a bright glint in his eye. “I could recommend a few people, sure.  Or we could give it a try?  If you’re going for theatrics, I’m not sure I’d trust anyone else to help you pull off this big thing with the right amount of flair it deserves.  I don’t know. What do you think?”

goddamnit. the A girl? friday could not come soon enough. still, he wasn’t suddenly being CRUEL, so that had to be a plus. “or, you know, OLIVE is good too. and yeah. thanks, it’s been nothing if not a huge success, as i’m sure you’ve heard.” she smiled,  genuinely - despite her sarcastic tone.

Henry considered her. She seemed like  someone who really wasn’t happy with  themselves, something he’d seen before.  Did that necessarily mean she wasn’t also  a bad person? No, But most people that try  to see the best in everyone tend to not be  the worst people, at least in his experience.  Besides, good people make mistakes, and  the way she said it he wasn’t sure she believed it.

Could he say she was a good person or a  bad person? Probably not. But it seemed  like she couldn’t be all bad.

“I’m not ready to say you’re a bad person.  Even if you have done some bad things, I  dunno, rumors exaggerate and bad things  don’t always mean you’re a totally bad person.”

given her attire,  olive wasn’t about to blame anyone from coming to any snap conclusions about her.   she was hardly helping things by going along with the rumours, but she’d made her bed, now she had to pretend-lie in it.

“you know, you might be one of the smartest people in this place.” or at least one of the few willing to ignore the sex scandals of a bunch of high schoolers. 

“Only on the HOLIDAYS, pipes are expensive these days.  No, That’s a little more SOUTH than I am, sorry to  disappoint the STEREOTYPES. Amazing’s one word for it,  I can think of others. At least they didn’t call you THYME,  or BAY, you’d take up half the RACK.”

“True. I like to believe in the good side of humanity,  but humanity makes that really hard sometimes.”

People, especially high school kids, could  apparently be pretty cruel. Chalk it up to  everything else he found issue with.

Henry gave a small shrug. “Well, I mean I’m not  exactly popular so I guess I’m doing something  to nail the weird part. Might as well continue the  trend. Besides, you haven’t done anything to me,  why should I hate you?”

“ yeah, yeah i used to. you know, seeing the best in everyone and whatever. but it’s getting harder. that’s not to say i don’t blame them. ”

sure everybody hated her, but the truth was, none of them could hate her more than olive hated herself at this point. that was a simple fact.

   “ I’ll pass if you don’t mind. Bad day I take it? ”

“YEAH;; Defiantly a solid no, I mean ‘sniffing’?  I know the British are strange, but think sniffing pushed  that boat out a little far, even by our standards.  If you know anything about me apparently so am I,  although, quite possibly DIFFERENT boundaries.  NICE, I’ll take your word for it. I really don’t- FUCK IT;;  This is weird enough, not like it can get worse.  -C A M P B E L L, I’ll let you put that together.”
