matthew: i think im okay but i havent had time to process anything

matthew: a day after we got back from hawaii i got a call from my mom telling me that dad was in the hospital and that i needed to come home

matthew: u know he and i have never had a great relationship but hes my dad i couldnt just not go. i was gonna call u before i boarded the plane but my phone died and after that it all just happened so fast

matthew: im really sorry mari i meant to text you the first day but everything was happening so fast and i didnt have time to think about anything else

matthew: one second everything was normal and the next im signing my life away and now everythings changed

⎛ TIME SKIP ⎞they hadn’t been intimate in a long time, since before he left, and although that may seem like a bad thing to most people, it had been oddly fine with mariana. the only important thing to her was that she was making him happy the way he made her, and she felt like they were finally back in that place. she couldn’t deny how much she loved making love to him, it was different than with anyone else she’d ever been with. “that was.. perfect. as always,” she smiled, leaning forward to peck his lips as she slid his t shirt over her naked body. 

the girl leaned forward to press a soft kiss to his lips, before resting her hands on his torso. “i know you were, babe,” she smiled, kissing him again. “whatever you wanna do is fine with me, i’m just happy to have you here,” mari told him, remember the way she felt when he was gone and never wanting to feel that again. “that you’re real,” she smirked, placing her thumb on his bottom lip before kissing him one more time. 

mariana laughed at his words. “oh, yeah, it’s been incredibly hard on me, i don’t know how i’ve managed, honestly,” she teased back, sitting down on the couch. “i couldn’t agree more, holding hands is all we need,” the brunette agreed before another laugh slipped past her lips. she watched her boyfriend as he joined her on the couch, fiddling with the rose petals in her hands, focusing on the unbelievably silky texture of them. when he covered his mouth, mariana chuckled again before moving closer to him, eventually lifting herself onto his lap. “maybe we can break this rule just once, for valentine’s,” she suggested, resting her hands on his shoulders. 

“thanks, baby, this is so sweet,” she responded, almost taken aback by his words. “oh my god, you’re so perfect,” mari teased when he explained his plan for the evening and she pressed another kiss to his lips before giggling lightly when he pecked her cheeks. “hm, keep this up and you just might get that lucky,” the brunette teased with another laugh. agreeing for the two of them to take things slow was something that was really important to mariana, they had started with sex every other time, and she wanted this time to be right. she had hoped this would be a way for them to have a fresh start, to get to know each other better before they just drowned themselves in the lust they felt for each other. mariana smelled the bouquet of flowers for a moment to appreciate the effort he went into to picking them before looking back up at him, one hand running through his hair. “thank you.. for all of this, and for being so patient with me, i really appreciate it.” mariana stepped back and placed the flowers neatly on the coffee table as she walked over to the couch, picking up some of the petals he left with the smile never leaving her face.
