Joe woke up, the snow falling softly outside. It was his favorite time of year, Christmas! But then he quickly realized he wasn’t able to sit up. When he looked down, he realized why. His was flat tummy had ballooned over night, rounding out and getting tight out of nowhere. Then, while still trying to just process what was going on while his husband snored contently next to him, he felt it. At first he thought it might’ve been gas, but then it happened again and again. This was no gas, it was kicks. Could it be him and his husband had finally gotten what they wished for?  You see, Joe and his husband had been trying to start a family for nearly a year now, trying very possible way to conceive but nothing stuck or worked. They were starting to give up hope and had an appointment for an adoption agency later this month. But Joe was always a kid at heart and so on Christmas Eve, he sat down alone in the living room and made a wish, a prayer to whomever was listening to please, let them be able to start the family they’ve always wanted to. Once finished, he finished his eggnog and walked upstairs to fall asleep.
