My first teacup hat in several years. I really missed it and hope I get to make more.
Commissioned teacup hat for a lovely hostess.
Request: "An Alice in Wonderland themed headpiece.
Black velvet teacup with a white Alice Silhouette on the front side, a silver pocket watch somewhere, some tiny red satin roses and cotton lace all around the plate."
She went on to add checkered fabric and playing cards to the cup.
The Final Result: A beautiful black velvet teacup hat with soft white satin on the inside and fun checkered pattern on the underside. A lovely satin trimmed ruffle peaks out from under the white cotton puff heart trimmed saucer. Resting in a bundle of red satin ribbon roses against a lightly ruffled blue ribbon bow is a silver pocket watch. Within the pocket watch you can see a white silhouette of Alice surrounded by tiny blue glass microbeads. Dangling from the side of the cup is a removable strand of red hearts, chain, beads and blue ribbon. A removable set of four playing cards fan out from behind the cup with a white velvet rabbit on the reverse.
