On this day in 1987, Ken Griffey Jr. was the No. 1 overall pick of the MLB Draft after being selected by the Seattle Mariners. He went on to become an AL MVP, 13x All-Star, 10x consecutive Gold Glove winner, 7x Silver Slugger, and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on July 24th, 2016.
