Reminder for this October (and every October): Please be respectful in the costumes you choose to buy and wear. If youâre unsure whether a costume would be considered respectful or not, try to ask a person from that culture. Also remember that how you behave when you wear it affects whether youâre being respectful or denigrating. (Ex: Itâs one thing to wear a kimono because itâs beautiful; itâs another thing to act out a bunch of Asian stereotypes while wearing it.) Also, âsexyâ versions of cultural costumes are basically never okay.
