The distance usually posed logistical challenges for the couple, but when it came to the Day of Love ™️, Juniper knew better than to let it slip without acknowledgement. After all, Augustine was a romantic to his very core, and there was no doubt he would do something, distance be damned.

Weeks of thought and preparation went into her gift, as she carefully arranged and made each component of its creation. Once complete, she nodded to herself, smiling contentedly as she sealed it with a ribbon and a card.

“Astral, deliver this to Augustine for me, please. You know where to leave it, right?” The alien Pokémon nodded, taking the bod in his hands and teleporting to complete the task.

“Yem behee hey”. The alien nodded as he inspected the location, leaving the box carefully on the professor’s desk before leaving.

Upon opening the box, there would be a parchment paper covering the treat. Underneath is a series of airtight containers, each with the picture of a region on it. Once all were removed, a map could be seen, drawn into the bottom of the box. It can be removed, and opened up. In the center piece is an envelope with a heart seal. The map, fully open, is of the world. There are small heart pins in each country that matches each of the marked containers.

The note reads:

“Dearest Augustine,

Enclosed within each container is a single serving of a dish from the region featured on its lid. Some are meals, others are treats. Each region is marked on the map to show where it came from, and this is for a reason. When we started dating, you told me of your travels, your love of food, and we shared endless stories and dreams of where we both would love to see. Consider this the start of that dream!

I have hand made each of these treats, all from places we both have said we traveled to already. Let’s see how long it takes before we can place those heart pins in all of the countries?

I love you, Augustine, and I look forward to all of the memories and experiences we will share together from here on forward.

It was a rather casual dinner in the beginning; excellent food, superb wine choices, and great live music. After they placed their orders, Augustine plucked a roll from the basket in the center of the table. For a while, Norman sat in his usual quiet way, but there seemed to be something stirring in his head. Augustine considered asking, but, why rush it? They had the entire evening to chat, and well, the bread was too tasty to stop eating! 

Norman finally spoke, and Augustine inhaled instead of swallowed. His eyes watered, and his face grew rather hot. Did Norman open want to dance with him? He must not have heard right over the music. 

“’Am I okay’?? Am I OKAY??” 

Augustine hastily tucked his shirt into his pants, picked up his backpack, and swung it onto his shoulder. 

It was an odd pose, but she was attempting to hold up an oddly colored axew towards the Live Caster for him to see. The pokemon looked at the device, curious as to what it was and attempted to reach out to grab it. The professor grinned, all smiles, as she continued to speak.

“As you can see, there’s a high rise in ‘Shiny’ Pokemon residing, here, in the Nature Preserve.”

At first, the stubby claws of the Axew came into a blurred view, then the picture straightened out, focusing on the Pokemon’s pale color. Augustine quickly pulled up another screen, typed in the search bar, and Axew’s data filled the window. The Pokemon’s original listing showed its usual olive color. 

“What an amazing coloration!” he cried, eyes shining at the little dragon. “Oh! If you want to see a nice Shiny-type, have a look at this one!”

For a moment, he ducked out of sight of the screen, and a series of scuffling could be heard. When he returned, he held up a little blue Pokemon. The frog did not look impressed or interested in the screen, and gave a little grumbling croak of annoyance.
