welcome to planet eden 🪐

Well, I guess this is my intro post. hey y'all, this is eden. and this is my tumblr. I guess i should start with the basics: you should know that I'm 24, originally from the US, but lately I've been traveling all over the world. I know English (sometimes), studied French for years, and am now learning Spanish. I'm a maximalist, and love anything colorful. I'm femme and queer and wildly in love with love. I have a grey cat who will probably make many appearances on this blog. I love hiking, reading, and red winged eyeliner.

I've always loved to write, about anything and everything. but I kinda outgrew that as I got older, and I miss it a lot. I use writing to process things, to get creative, to make decisions I could never make without pen and paper.

I thought for a long time about what the "theme" of my blog should be. i've always struggled with being a generalist. And honestly, I can't choose. All I know is I want this blog to be a space to journal, to write creatively, to document life & feelings & travel, a place for art and music and joy and melancholy, and who knows maybe even a fitness journey lol. I guess at the heart of it, I feel like life is moving so so fast. A little too fast. And while I love moving around and exploring the world, I want to create something that will endure, regardless of age or time zone, something to reflect where I'm at and to look back on. basically, this blog is my child.

so, if you can bear with my mismatched capitalization, mindless ramblings, and ever-changing topics, i'd love to have you join me. may this be a space for generalists everywhere.

i don't even remember how you pressured me into it.

maybe it was me, so desperate for you to know every part of a self so new, so delicate, so battered.

no part of me was yet sacred. a virgin will, not yet scarred by the scuffs of truth.

and so i bore my soul, naked and vulnerable, a young innocent girl shaking from the cold and rain

her jaw aching from grinding her teeth, her knuckles white,

her eyes wide with anticipation, with wild hope.

i yearned to look for the first time in the mirror,

to see me, reflected back in you.

i read you everything i had written.

pages dog-eared for imaginary publishers.

pages so black with strikeouts you could barely follow a sentence.

i read it all, my eyes becoming her eyes, wider and wider with

simultaneous release and anticipation.

a deer before impact.

i read you everything, and then stood

deadly still.

i became the deer.

stuck in the forever between

swerve or impact.

i have written about that moment hundreds of times since,

but there is no other word to describe your laughter but

cruel.

and so the car came barreling towards the deer.

crushing every atom in upon itself.

i hear your laughter at me with everything i write.

antlers piercing self.

you are the hurt in all my poems.
