Seeing a lot of discussion on Twitter regarding people not wanting to read unfinished fics, because there's no guarantee they'll be finished.
While it is true there's no guarantee a WIP you like will be finished, unwillingness to engage with WIPs in fandom will guarantee that works never get finished, because authors and artists think no one is interested in their work.
This "only read finished works" philosophy creates an environment that only writers that write solely for themselves can survive; everyone that is motivated by community and external encouragement will have their writing spirit broken and they will give up. Only the writers that write only for their own sense of accomplishment will keep writing, and while I believe it is good for writers to be that way, it is not good for fandoms.
Because writers that are satiated with their own sense of accomplishment regarding a work have no reason to publish what they write where you can read it.
When authors are only writing for themselves, there's no concrete reason to bother uploading to an archive or platform. There's no reason to share if your own satisfaction is all you want and need. I myself have hundreds of unpublished fics; hundreds of thousands of words that will never leave my hard-drive. Every year I lose more and more interest in publishing stuff, and keep more and more works I might have published in the past to myself.
Who knows, maybe the best fic of your life is out there somewhere, gathering dust in some disillusioned author's drafts, because your careless actions and statements told that author that you don't value their labor.
If you want fic to read, you must engage with and support authors. Lack of engagement might not stop people from writing, but it will stop them from posting.
