Life Got Tricky

my brother is sitting in the chair in my room studying a practice test thing for his final test before he becomes a fully certified EMT tomorrow and he’s mumbling some of the questions out loud and he just went “a child has fallen from a monkey at school…” and he just got dead quiet and stared at the wall for like a solid minute with the most stricken look on his face before he whispered “there’s no protocol for monkeys”

I am learning that the difference between a garden and a graveyard is only what you choose to put in the ground.

She was not ice like some of the girls in this town. She was not the type to leave goosebumps from her touch. She wouldn’t send chills down your spine or shoot ice into your heart. She wouldn’t make you cold. She was not fire like the other girls either. She wouldn’t ignite sparks from her stare. She wouldn’t fill your veins with ashes. She couldn’t light up your heart. She didn’t have enough fire to burn you to the ground. You see it was a tragedy and a damn miracle she was neither. She wouldn’t make you feel cold or burn you. So you think she can’t make your heart speed up. She couldn’t make you feel like a natural disaster and everyone seems to want love to be a catastrophe. This girl, she was a meteor. She is a shooting star that people only use to wish for other things they don’t have to fight or search for. But I swear to you one day someone will wish for her. Oh, how I pity the boy that does, because when she crashes into his heart she’ll be damned if she doesn’t leave her mark.

Falling in love is so unexpected… Gut-wrenching.
