And yet somehow this is my first time kicking it!

My own personal poorly pissed on experience is that if I use an example to illustrate something that is more widespread, everyone starts talking to me about the example as an isolated circumstance. However, if I talk about a single, isolated experience, everyone starts to generalize it in ways that aren't appropriate because it's about something singular that's not meant to be generalized so widely.
