I can't believe I just realized this after like four and a half years, but I think the reason kpop HAS to have fan names for every single group is not just parasocialness- its bc they need a polite but not overly formal way to address fans, and there is no version of the word 'you' that conveys all of that! so we have to have a name!!!

Recently heard someone say that going from Manchester to London was like going from Texas to New York. Mayyybe they were hyperbolizing but I think they were serious, which is hilarious. That is not even like going from Dallas to Houston lol

obsessed with the way we as kpop fans have alternate spelling for some artist names that are ostensibly just alternate, valid romanizations, and yet they are undeniably cuter. for example lee know=lino, wonwoo=wonu, i.n=iyen. Also it doesn't exactly fit this category but my favorite kpop nickname of all time is shua. It fits him so perfectly its so cute 😭 joshuji is also rly cute so I guess what we've learned today is Joshua has the best nicknames in all of kpop, thanks for coming to my ted talk
