So thanksgiving is (unironically) my favorite holiday. Now, I know that what I was taught in elementary school was a bold faced lie but I'm an American; we turn a blind eye to all of our wrongs and rewrite history to make us (the white man) the hero in every story.* I love thanksgiving not for the family fun. The gathering or the giving of thanks. No. I love thanksgiving because of three things. Three very very selfish things which I know goes against the whole principle of thanksgiving.
1. I get out of school.
2. Mac and Cheese
3. Apple goddamn pie.
Now I do love my family (at least some of them) and most of my favorite childhood memories are from Thanksgiving.
So I'm gonna go help my mom make a very very spitefully delicious gluten free Sweet Potato pie, and play "Mind the Gap" with my Grandma, Aunts, Mom and Uncle.
Hope everyone has a great thanksgiving and if you don't celebrate thanksgiving -for any reason (they are all valid)- I hope you still enjoy the day and the fall leaves (unless it's spring where you are), and get some apple pie (if that's your thing)
*I know the real history of thanksgiving (or at least the less heavily doctored version) I just love apple pie a lot. I'll do just about anything for apple pie.

Alas, I don't think there is a festival in the Arid Plains where the fey go about in disguise, carving pumpkins (or turnips) into lanterns, but I do think tiny Z would take the performance of it all to a LARPing extreme. They would also become one of those incorrigible trick-or-treaters who insists on trick-or-treating well into their college years. Tiny U would hate the idea, at first... but secretly be proud of their disguise, and openly smug while comparing candy counts after. They wouldn't be caught dead knocking on doors as a teenager - that's for children only - but would probably start handing out treats around that time.
If you're partaking in any festivities this year yourself, I hope you stay safe and enjoy this time with family or friends, and if you're celebrating alone I wish you a cozy and delightful October evening!
