“Baby It’s Cold Outside” has a premise of a man and a woman (in most versions) enjoying a romantic evening together, but the woman half-heartedly makes an excuse to leave, and the man replies “but it’s so cold outside! You’ll need your coat!“ etc. The banter back and forth between the couple consists of the majority of the song, with both of them bringing up points and either refuting those points themselves or letting the other refute them, until they both reach the conclusion that they really just want to spend more time together and disregarding any excuses as to why they can’t do that (propriety, etc). “Let It Snow” is a simplified version of that, with the singer (solo this time) saying “let the weather be as bad as it’s going to be, because either way I want to stay here with you.” It’s the same thesis of bringing up inclement weather & using it as a excuse to stay with your romantic partner. They have different themes and executions, but both songs come to the same conclusion: let the storm rage outside, because neither partner actually wants to leave.
